Mark, do you have the hotel lined up yet? I want to book now...
Also, for those of you not on Norcal 928 Facebook, I am planning a caravan departing San Jose on friday and returning Sunday.

Awesome! I'm coming this year for the first time and looking forward to it!
Unfortunately I'm on a tight timeframe so I will be driving a turd from the airport.

Your Personalized Group Web Page for 928 Sharktober Fest is now live . Please note, we have added pre & post dates to your block of rooms. The pre & post dates will give your guests the option to book the group rate 2 days prior to check in and 2 days after check out.
Your guests can also call our reservations @ 714-632-1221, press option 1 and mention the group code: SHK or group name: 928 Sharktober Fest to book their reservations by phone.
As a reminder the special room rate will be available until 9/30/2016 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.
Please note that if your group is having trouble making reservations through our personalized group web page here are the reasons why:
1. The group’s pre & post dates have all been booked at the hotel
2. The room block is sold out
3. The room type is unavailable
Based on the hotel’s availability, I can add extra rooms to your room block if needed.

Perfect, thanks. Booked.
I'd sure love to see a more organized dinner again, and some drawn out tech sessions in the afternoon again also.
Greg going thru the mechanical operation of a transmission is a hit, someone I'm sure could do an hour at least on how to detail and color correct the finish of a hook from the stack out back (Mark W, Any Kay?). I need to do dash vacuum pods, and I'm sure a handful or more of ppl would like to watch that too.
If MarkA has a bad S4 motor, going through the motions of how to do an intake refresh would be keen as well in the shop on a stand.
How many people come that need help with the little things...I remember Colin helping me when I was a noob..now I can do that too. Many of us could do that.
Perhaps even flash-sales of certain types of parts or components throughout the afternoon, up to 4pm..so start making a list of what you need. Then everyone retreats to clean up, and prepare for dinner at 7.
IMHO, I miss the events where the afternoon was still 928intl focused, with a proper group dinner.
The "fun runs" continue to be nothing but a traffic congested way to kill the day the moment lunch is done...and an excuse to hooligan around already crowded hill roads. Not that I'm against hooning around mountain roads..but in & out of 928intl in only a few hours is taking a lot out of what this even used to be, given how far many travel for it. Once a # of faces leave for the congestion run, many others give up and go to the hotel.
The last thing we need is a group drive, followed by a group impounding. It's happened down there. It can happen again. "Group" runs here in Norcal are becoming targets too.
We can do better, again, we used to. But the slow erosion of the 'group' to the drive has really, really, cut the legs off Sharktoberfest. I'm close and I spend more time driving one-way, than really getting to know people during the actual day at the shop. My daughter came down, and wondered what she missed, given the hype around it.
A drive to the hills is best done at 6-7am Sunday AM, at the latest. Not 2pm on a Saturday with the rest of the unwashed masses.
The last good dinner came at a cost per head, had a raffle, and was a lot of fun at the hotel.
Lets fill a room for a dinner at the hotel, some $$ per head for a nice meal at it, and do a raffle for a charity. Everyone has SOMETHING someone else really wants that hey..you could part ways with for charity...right?
I'll go first. A brand new Greg Brown modified 928 water pump. Offer only good if we actually do this, not me capturing $20 in $5 tickets cuz we don't do this as a team.
Failing any of this, I'll still come, but I'd be flying Southwest and taking Uber if I didn't have work for GregB to do for me the 2 days before hand. It's much less of a 928 deep dive gathering than it used to be..and we can get that back if we want to.
