Some of those steering wheels are on the wrong side of the car!

Fantastic! Thank you for that great show. And the story of Dries is more incredible than anything I've ever heard.

Pierre,

Your 928 looks great. Question about the blacked out fog/turn signals. Is that a piece of plastic covering the lights? Did you make that or purchase it somewhere?

Hey, what's a airhead like you doing on the 928-list?

Wonderful pics!

Very sad about Dries' misfortune, but clearly the man is on top of it. More power to him.

The reason you don't see many Porsches on the road there, is that they are a magnet. For attacks. You wouldn't want to be sitting at a light only to have your head blown off so someone can go sell your Porsche for 20 bucks, so you drive a 1981 Toyota Corolla. Sad fact of rampant crime there.

So I see they've got funky new licence plates ... I suppose it's Johannesburg / Number / Gauteng huh .... no more Transvaal. Oh well. The thing about Porsches in SA is that they are VERY expensive to buy and to service. It's really cool to look at the steering wheel on the right, and see S4's and GT's with Euro sidemarkers.

Pierre, do they also have the rear fog? Imagine so ... And, did you ever meet the guy in Randburg with the unique 928? I forget his model designation, but it's kinda like a factory faring kit ....

Hey I'm glad you guys liked the pics. Tomorrow the local Porsche club is staging our annual year end 3 hour endurance relay race. The rules provide for 3 cars per team and they must be same marque for each team. Makes for some exiting racing.

- Andre Roodnat - Hope you enjoyed your stay in SA. Actually RHD feels better IMHO, you have your strong arm guide the wheel and the weak arm throw the stickshift. I could be wrong though. Depends if you're left or right handed I guess. (or which hand you ********** with) he-he.

- Sharks - It's a lens cover thing I came up with, but never got it off the ground. Randy, Jim Novak and a few others got some from me, but due to circumstances I couldn't follow through with the project at the time.

- heinrich - Yes, Dries' story makes you come down to earth and stop bitching about the stupid things in life. And believe me, he doesn't feel sorry for himself. He can talk **** with the best of 'em. Dries' favorite joke - Blind man walks into a shop swinging his dog around on a leach. Shop owner asks what the hell he's doing?, Blind man replies "i'm having a look around".

The guy you're talking about with the unigue 928 is Bruce Joelsen, the (used to be) boss of Elna sewing machines in SA. He used to sponsor local Superbike racer Dave Petersen, remember? - the red # 7 machine. (a ZX6. I bought the ex-Petersen bike when he retired and raced it for 2 seasons.) The 928 you're talking about is prolly the most unique 928 in the world. (Something this forum doesn't even know about.) It's a one of a kind widebody produced by the factory. I saw a magazine article a few years ago and I saw the car in the flesh at a local concourse with a authentication letter from Porsche stating that the car was / is indeed a one of a kind Porsche Factory creation.
