Default Possible LS6 swap into my 85 track car

This is down the road (next month) a bit but I'm going to be replacing the LS6 thats in my 04 C5 Z06, with a LS3 crate motor.

Im replacing the LS6 due to a low oil pressure issue when warm and at idle. Once the LS6 is pulled - its going to be refreshed from top to bottom, correcting the oil pressure issue.

Once that is completed - Ill have a refreshed LS6 with forged internals rated up to 700Hp (what it is now) (Currently sits at 355 RWHP now)

So ... pull the 31 year old OEM 4.7 ROW motor and then do what with it? Or sell the LS6?

Anyone done a LS motor swap yet? Looking for feedback on the difficulty and items needed.

Thanks eveyone.

Do a search for "just peachy" and you will be greeted by the most comprehensive LS swap restoration ever on Tony's beautiful car. It is amazing. He's put a LS3 in it though.

Good luck!

Thanks again Tony for the link(s)

Ill take a look later and see whats up.

For right now - my main concern is getting the LS6/LS3 swap in the Z06 completed. Once that is over with, then Ill dive in head first into the track car. But if a dry sump is the way to go, then Ill probably head down that road.

Beautiful conversion BTW.

Thanks

My 4.7 runs like a bat out of hell -

Absolutely nothing wrong with the motor other than the oil pan seeping oil. I had the entire front end rebuilt from H2O pump to gears/cogs/seals ...everything. Dan Warner at Exotic Motorwerks can vouch for the motor and the maintenance. Put it this way - the last time she was in the shop to refresh the front end - the bill was 3K.

Here's a recent short clip of her running ... dont mind the hood bar and sound deadoning material ripped out.

If you plan to run with PCA check with those particular chapters. I know in the past some have run into issues with transplanted engines at PCA events.

Power or torque?
Thanks for the heads up - didn't even think about that being an issue.

Why are those distributors and the power steering reservoir on the passenger side?

Made me think...

Truck has 300hp @ 3100 RPM and 520ftlb @ 1800 RPM so less power than the 928 it hauls but 2x the torque.

And PCA Club Racing is for Porsches and the rules don't allow radical engine swaps. The cars can be upgraded or backdated to be other models but no "unnatural" combinations.
