If I was working on other people's cars, as Mr. M. does, I'd go with the aftermarket gaskets, too. I track my cars so they'll be dirty soon enough. I guess my standards match my abilities.
If you're a frugal man you may find that you can save a few bucks by ordering exactly what you need and not getting the kit. This is increased if you're planning to order aftermarket parts that duplicate what's in the kit.
"Brisvegas?" Oh... I see now.

Ahh forgot about the early cars and self contained tensioner oil.
IIRC 83 onwards has oil in the tensioner and requires a gasket.
I have not done much work to pre 83 cars.
So besides the tensioner gasket not being needed for the OPs car,
everything else I suggest will be needed IMHO

OOps Sorry Randy I am talking cam gaskets for the 16 V cars,
these go to the rear caps of the cam towers.
Your 32 Valve has the standard rubber gaskets supplemented with the alu sealing rings on each cover screw

Ive used two 944 head gaskets kits for my '83 and they had everything in it except one small gasket that goes in the back corner of one of the heads. At the time, around '98, it was alot cheaper than a head gasket set for the 928.
