Default Steel Sleeve in Block

Hi All Again
Thanks for help with previous threads, I am still having issues on an engine rebuild. After spending thousands on machine shop work I am not convinced that they have done the right thing with my block. I had sourced a alusil sleeve and found a shop to install it on a bore which had been damaged by a gudgeon pin coming loose and breaking a piston. The shop found me a Mahle piston (97.98) and machined to fit, but whilst they had all parts sent the other pistons off to be coated with DF-1 Dry Film Coating.
Rebuilding the engine I damaged the alusil bore which had just been replaced as I think I had a incorrect oil ring as all other 7 went in fine.
So I am back to where I started and have ordered a 2nd hand 97mm piston from Germany and am getting that coated to match the others and then sleeving all 8 bores with steel sleeves.
I am using steel sleeves due to the coating which was put on the pistons (don't think it is suitable for alusil and when I have asked them I am not convinced that they are 100% sure)
Does anyone know where (if at all) I can source the correct rings to suit a 97mm piston for steel sleeves.?
Any advise will be welcome.

you are making this WAY too difficullt. just find a 85 block with pistons and install. done...

Or find a short block 4.7 and replace.

you will spend much more money and time and might have an engine that will fail in short order. the coating questions alone would scare me to take the safer road. certainly sleaving one cylnder is not worth the time or money to save a very common and cheap block.

1. Find another short block that has not been molested. Abandon the nightmare you have/are trying to create.

The more expensive route:

2. Send one of your pistons to CP Carrillo and have them make you a set of aluminum pistons to work in a cast iron bore, with the appropriate ring package. (The dry film coating will come off the stock pistons in a few hundred miles and you wil have an iron plated piston running on an iron cylinder.....this will not work!) When the pistons are done, have your cast iron liners bored and honed to get the proper clearance for an aluminum piston running in a cast iron sleeve inside an alumimum engine. (This will be totally dependant on the expanson rate of the aluminum alloy the pistons are made from....CP Carrillo can help you with this!)

1) Follow Greg's advice
2) Don't follow Greg's advice and spend $$$$ for sleeves/rebuild from 928 Motorsports
3) Have fun spending $$$ on another possible solution, when you could be driving the 928
Your car, your choice. The 928 engine is a system with parts designed to work together, not a pile of mass produced pieces assembled into an engine

I have core blocks in stock that we can build for you.

We can Nikasil the block and take you back to stock bore sizes, and use stock or aftermarket forged pistons; or we can steel sleeve the block and take you up in displacement and HP.

Your choice.
