Ouch, I hope you did your best in trying to convince them that it is really worth about $8-10,000.

Has the market run up passed my pay grade already?

If it has, I have a nice Weissach for you....

Seems a bit optimistic but it doesn't hurt to try. I wish them the best of luck as these high prices benefit us all.

Agree. It just justifies to my wife that the money pit black hole is actually a worm hole and the money will come back in some future space time continuum.

Assuming no bent valves or TBF, $17.5k doesn't sound bad to me. Even if you drop $10k in it bringing maintenance up to date, you're only in it for $27.5k and you'll have a one owner (I assume) 42k mile, concours quality car. Bet it won't be long before some of you look back and kick yourself for passing on it. Just my .928 cents.

Once someone buys it, then it is a two owner car Guy died over two years ago at age 94 highly unlikely he was driving this much over the last 10 years. So unless there are service records who knows when the coolant was last changed ? , brake fluid ? or if the odometer still works ??? a/c ?
So all boils down to.....Do you feel lucky ? But fun to talk about

True about it then being a 2-owner and the concerns you have about it sitting for so long. That said, they're becoming increasingly difficult to find in this condition.

Not a screaming deal by any means, but worth taking a serious look IMHO. YMMV

I just looked at the PPI and I didn't put down my concerns on the coolant. ****. It was a very dark green, I mean VERY dark green. I had made the comments to those that were there that it was not a good sign as I'd done more head gasket jobs on low mile cars than I had high mile cars.

Sorry for that oversight.

944 turbo I bought nice one owner car also had very, very green coolant.....later determined after buying it that the water pump was leaking and the "nice Guy" owner had been filling it back up....probably straight 100% coolant.

Good call, I did note that the pump appeared to be weeping.

I agree...under 30k if do it yourself, under $38k for someone else to do it...sems about right but only if the heads aren't eaten alive....

I'm guessing it will need an engine pull with all gaskets (including head gaskets and fuel lines PS hoses replaced. A car sitting that line also will need brake lines and most likely caliper rebuilds. Possibly a new radiator and that doesn't even delve into the AC system which will probably need every single O ring replaced.

In other words a Rob Edwards mechanical refurbish.......or maybe BC is ready to take on the project.

He did say OBO. Someone already offered $12k.
I told him $10k and the car would sell in a heartbeat. Good job he did not take my advice.
Once you peg a price you can only come down.
GLWTS.
