Default New owner intro

Hi Folks,

Picked up this lady 2 weeks ago, 1979 928, 5 speed manual non sunroof, it's had a good bit of work done over the years. However the fuel piping seems to have been neglected along with the fuel tank cradle has not held up too well. The car was in the UK before the last owner imported her into Ireland in 2010.

Currently working on what hoses I need to replace on it from the supply and return the hard lines that run underneath are rotten and I've noticed the return lines that run from behind the cover of the rear inner wheel arch are bad with one of them rotten and split in half. Tank cradle isn't in great shape either...so the part hunting has commenced :-)

Shall be hitting up to pirtek to see can I get some hoses made up at this point I am just trying to get my head around what hoses are needed as I may as well swap the lot and have done with it.

Anyway glad to have found this form and look forward to learning from you all :-)

Michael based in Ireland

Thanks guys!

I'm just 40 minutes drive north of Dublin in a small village called Slane in county Meath, will get more pics up shortly. Prepare for rain when you come to Ireland once you accept that you'll be grand :-)

Welcome. Nice car! No sunroof a bonus. I am also replacing a lot of fuel/rubber lines on my '84. If you haven't already, the PET (illustrated parts catalog) is a good place to start. Contact Roger and 928sRus. He can help you on your hunt.

No side rub strips, rear impact bumperettes, and corner markers either. Interior pics please. Car appears to be in original, unmolested condition-very nice T

Nice looking ride. Yes, go through the fuel lines from stem to stern. Especially the two along the exhaust manifold and inner fender, drivers side on yours...passengers on ours here in the states. Don't know if this will be of any help, being state side and all, but there is a company here in Muskegon, Michigan named AGS that sells a ploy-armour fuel line, similar to the green coated original lines and have every fitting under the sun. Maybe the ship Internationally?

Congratulations, looking forward to seeing more pictures...especially interior.

Brian.

Cheers for the friendly welcome folks it's appreciated!

Will stick some pictures up of the interior she's in pretty good condition and has a good bit of work done to it over the years just a few bits and pieces to sort but nothing that can't be fixed. This forum looks like the right job with folk who get the sleeves rolled up. I've seen other forums over the years with Daddy took the car to the dealer and its fixed now resolutions which are about as much use as a chocolate tea pot.

Having some joy on the fuel line front the return line that runs around the inner wheel arch is so corroded it's split in half as The Deputy suggested which is why she wont be going anywhere until that's fixed it also explains as to why I had a suspicion it was a little thirsty than I had expected.

Gazfish will have to meet up when she's running again I'm working in Ballycoolin if that's closer to you...

Thank you for the warn welcome and hopefully when I learn a little bit more about the world of 928s I'll be able to return some of the help one day :-)

Cheers
Michael

Cheers!

Have the original compressor for the spare tyre inflation, in what looks like the original plastic bag that it came with.
