Where is the alarm module in airbag cars? Rennlister Stuck
Kevin Wilson's (aka jetson8859) GTS will not start. I had him lock the car with the PS and DS door windows down and then reach in and try to open the door.
The alarm is armed per the blinking lights, but the alarm does not sound when he tries to open either door.
I believe that indicates a problem with the alarm.
Of note yesterday when all this unfolded he locked the car from the PS side for the first time.
No power at the fuse ( I think) no gas at the exhaust. He switched relays and LH already.
Also, the car came with an aftermarket alarm at some point because there was/is a horn in the engine bay. We assume it was removed - cannot find any wiring for it.
Long story short how can he defeat the alarm system assuming that the aftermarket version was disabled. Where is the alarm in airbag cars?

Found Alan's post:
Install a jumper link between the terminals N11 & Q12 on the CE panel plugs (bottom of the panel) to defeat the ignition disable. This will not terminate an alarm alert (horn/lights).

Here is a thread that might be useful. I was looking at it for my 1990 S4 some time back.
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...f-problem.html
the thread indicates it is up behind the glove box. Hope this helps.

He is going to have it towed home tomorrow. I'll let him post his progress.

Thanks guys, as Kevin_in_Atlanta said, the car was running fine and there hasn't been any work done in the last month or so. She started fine Wednesday morning but when I went to start her this evening no joy. Turns over just fine but no fire. Initial things checked were:
Fuse for fuel pump
Relays (which were all replaced in April)
Swapped LH from 87
I can feel ignition relay and X relay click at turn of key. The LH and fuel pump Relays do not click. Swapped them with new spares and still no joy.
87 doesn't have alarm so that wasn't a first thought. Kevin had me try test described above and nothing. As he said the only thing different than a normal day is I locked and unlocked the car from passenger side.
There is this 30amp fuse wired into the "T" plug and I have no idea what it's for.
Will have AAA get her home tomorrow and start tracing all the spare wires.

You can find the relays for the computers and either jump them of remove their aluminium covers and squeeze the relay contacts together with your fingers.

I did put a jumper in fuel pump relay pins 30/87 and still no joy. Also tried jumper from N11 to Q12 but my confidence of solid connectivity is not great and I didn't want to actually bare the wires.
I am able to access alarm module by moving seat all the way forward. The 15amp fuse is good and when I pull it I lose all interior lights, inserting it back into slot nd all interior lights come back if that matter at all.
I have been doing all this in the 3rd subterranean Floor of our office parking garage, it's dark, hot and cramped as I have cars on either side of me during the day.
Right now think I will just tow home and get her into garage where I have access to tools, lights and a fan!
