Default WPOJBO92XDS861117 Project

Found outside Kokomo In on a corn crib pad. Looking for an old rough square dash to modify with a LS implant. Took 6 months to get together with owner. Purchased 6/12 for a REASONABLE fee and trailed home. Last plated sticker 2011. Nonrunning but sound body and proper engine compartment, interior, Ruff ruff. Drain tank, free up fuel pump, and blow out filter, no luck with start up. (suspect green wire or LH) Bottle fed gas and lights rights right up.
Now starts the push to complete engine overhaul of 944 engine to make time for more learning.
Pictures to follow.Toolman

Default 1st order of business, engine.

With 944 complete and looming knee replacement the engine is on the stand for repair. The disassembly finding are proving it will be an exercise of Yes you can, but should you? Finding many issues, throttle body dampeners

broken, 1 water pump bolt broken and left, head gaskets weeping in stud holes, and a previous attempt to remove the crank timing gear the resulted in a crack in the pan mounting flange along front of girdle. Wow! Pictures to follow. Toolman

Default Finally back to it!

Got bottom crack welded and clean up done. Took a bunch of fasteners and tubing to the platers and picked up Monday. Thanks Industrial Plating, Lafayette In. Will check crank fitment after weldment using old bearings, very small amount of wear, and plastigage. Heads are fresh and cylinder taper at .001 or less. Adding pictures to album. Tim

Whoa, Toolman! I missed this thread the first time around:
Had the car been an accident or something? Why the new panels?
I am confused, was the car originally blue? And one car is donor car?
More important: Did the knee surgery slow you down?

Nice plating, btw. The motor will look great when you are done!

No accident or a least none apparent damage from one Think that someone blew a tire on drivers side and damaged fender more that I wanted to try to fix. Passenger side small dent and bondo with fender well on fender side. Best I can tell, like so many others, some one used jack on frame rails. I'll post pictures when I turn it around to strip other side Knee is awesome just been busy with other things and as this will be my last I'm taking my time. New panels are straight as an arrow and, while it will never be concourse, it should end up being a good representation of it's class. Not many out here in the corn fields, lol.
