The app will probably alert your phone when a message goes out to the group.

Turns out you need the app. You can text into the group but without the APP you cannot tell it to just send via SMS versus push. I prefer to not have to run another APP but looks like a good option if you get messages via SMS or Push.
My apologies for any confusion

yes, you will need the app for it to function on the phone properly.
the nice thing about this app is that a lot of people can have a MMS texting group without everyone exchanging phone numbers.
We have about 150 people in a big cape lookout camping weekend group.
we all have the app and throughout the year the group can stay in touch and updates about the next year etc can be sent out.
Works great.
I have a groups for work, family, cape camp out and boating buddies

Just arrived in Sterling, left ATL around 2pm and was going to drive 6 or 7 hours and finish up with an easy drive in the morning....but after reaching the 6 hr Mark decided to head on in, these cars truly are amazingly comfortable and seriously eat up the miles! If there others in town tomorrow night would enjoy meeting up, can grab dinner or a beer.

Edit: for those coming up from South, I didn't have any issues getting gas. I took I-85 north to Charlotte then 77 north to 81N then 66 into the NCR. Only saw one station who didn't have regular unleaded but had premium

Holiday Inn
I called Holiday Inn today to make sure they were going to have about 40 parking spots roped off for us. Elise said she was on top of the situation, and it is already handled. So, feel free to park in the spots where the cones and tape are.
When you leave the spot, be sure to put the cones back. Elise said we should be able to get those same spots on Saturday evening as well as on Friday.
Unfortunately, Capitol Meats will not be having their convention at the Holiday Inn. So, things will be a little less interesting this year. However, we won't have to compete with them for parking this time!
Elise told me that all of the guest rooms were renovated over the past year. Unfortunately, the lobby is undergoing renovation now. So, there will be some signs of construction during our stay, but I'm sure it won't be a big deal.
Regards,
Greg

Glympse
For those traveling to the DC area tomorrow, how about setting your Glympse app to broadcast your position using the tag 928Frenzy20

The secret to entering the tag in Glympse is a right-to-left swipe once you get the map showing, which on a virgin copy of the app required a trick I've already forgotten. On an iPhone, that is. "Tags" were called "groups" last year, which doesn't help. Speaking as an IOS developer myself, I have to say the UI resembles the backside of a 928 central electrical panel.

Glympse is nice and clean on Android, but the interface is a tad inconsistent. To enter your info on the Android app, press the blue 'up arrow' in the upper right corner.
Remember to put an exclamation point (!) in front of the group name: !928frenzy20

Ok, just got Glympse and testing it out. Sent my location and I think it's working. I see Otto on the road stuck in traffic.
