Default Looking at a 928 S4

I would appreciate some advise. What are some common 928 issues and what is the cost, parts and labor? Timing belts, etc?

Welcome Mike, I would suggest before asking any questions ,
that you first read the FAQ a the top of the page.

Reading this thread will take about 4 days,
But it can also save you many thousands of dollars,
as the wisdom it provides will be your guide to being a savvy 928 owner.

NOTE simply popping in and asking a question thats been asked many times already,
may not provide you with the info you seek.

THUS its better to use the search function to find the info first .

Hi Michael, Ditto Stan;s comments above. Also highly recommend buying (off eBay) the Porsche 928 Essential Buyer's Guide by David Hemmings. Important reference. Covers all models and the model/year differences. Also highlights the things to look for when purchasing a 928. Great reference book!

Cheers

Concur with both previous comments. Additionally, when you narrow it down to the one or a couple of candidates, spend the $100-200 on a PPI from a reputable shop.

Best of luck!

Thank you for the posts. The long post on the common problems was very helpful. i purchased The Essential Buyer's Guide Porsche 928 and it was quite weak compared to Pete Zimmermann's book on the Porsche 911. Again thank you for the help.

You might also try contacting Don Carter, he's a very knowledgeable 928 owner there in Houston ...
