FYI, after a few months of little or no interest, the last batch of 9 pairs was gone in about 48 hours. I should be able to make another batch by the end of the month. I've got a new style of outer ring seals on order; that should eliminate the one detail that was really giving me trouble (reliably making a strip seal into a ring seal with a glued splice) and should speed up production a bit.
Thanks for the comments about my dad. I've spent most of the last 7 of 7 days/evenings in either a hospital or rehab facility (support/care management/etc.), so not much spare time. But things are looking up for now.

I've had the LED headlights on my car for over a year now and continue to enjoy the conversion. Definitely a big improvement. My only complaint is the lack of a good H3 (fog light) LED retrofit to match. The fog lights now look so yellow and out of place next to the 5000K headlights! OTOH, the headlights are now so much better that I don't NEED to run the foglights for ordinary night driving like I did with the H4 bulbs.
However, my real reason for posting: Occasionally, turning on the foglights causes the headlights to operate improperly (I think it turns on both high and low beams at the same time). Flashing the headlights or turning them on and off fixes it, but it's a pain. Did someone mention that using a new relay or some jumper would solve problems with the headlight/foglight interaction? This is for an '83 US 5-speed. Any direction appreciated!!
Cheers.

See the thread Headlight / Foglight interaction prob with LED bulbs. There's even a post in that thread (post #37) that specifically mentions that it works on an '83.

Try this for the H3 foglamp bulbs.
And these for the driving lamps. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...t-car/169/766/

Hi Moose,
Wow! Thanks for the links!! Looking sharp!! Yes that’s exactly what I’m after!!! On those H3 bulbs, do they maintain the sharp horizontal cutoff of the original bulbs? Are any modifications to the light assembly needed?
cheers!

No modifications needed, they are just short enough to fit behind the shield inside the lens.

Just got those H3 bulbs on order from Amazon! They are rated at 1000 lumens but don't show a color temperature -- I'll hope/assume it's around 5500K which would match the headlights. FWIW, the magic distance seems to be 32mm max from the mounting plate to the tip of the bulb -- that's the size of the original H3 and presumably any bulb much longer would run afoul of the internal shield. I did go crazy looking on Amazon at many other H3 bulbs but there are very few which meet that specification. There are one or two others that are under 32mm but extend far out the back side (like these: and
. Don't know if those would work. So I went with the H3s that Moose found!!
I ended up ordering some slightly different driving light bulbs though by looking around on Amazon instead. There are a TON of these BA15s LED bulbs to choose from. I wanted to stick to something close to 5500K. So I ended up ordering two different bulbs, one is 2W (and unknown lumens, but which I think is good for about 200 lumens) and the other one is rated at 900 lumens (and unknown wattage). They're both 6000K. I'll try 'em both and report back.
H3, from Moose: Lower wattage driving light: Higher wattage driving light:

As an update to the H3 bulb chase, I found a direct replacement LED H3 that I am very happy with now. And sorry for hijacking the H4 thread with H3 talk, but for anyone else upgrading both the headlights and the foglights (and even the bayonet bulb driving lights), perhaps this can help tie things together! https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post15529439
