It is a shame. I purchased my GTS 5 speed in 2005 from Michael. He was a complete gentleman and an honest seller. I guess he got carried away with his home but that is bordering on crazy.

Incredible story regarding Michael Wilhoit. I called him last summer and inquired about the Guards Red 5-speed that was advertised on his site. Oddly, he said that he had sold it months before and that it was only on the website to bring buyers in. At the time he had three 928's advertised and none in stock. I then asked him to help find me a 95 GTS 5-speed. We shared a few pleasantries as I wanted him to help me find a "Best of the Best" car. Nothing came of it and I was surprised at his lack of follow through...

I am now quite happy that I did not get pulled in and buy a car that a bank has a potential claim on.

Could this get ugly for owners of cars that were specifically listed as collateral for the banks he owes so much money to?

I think I recall seeing the African Queen being listed for sale on his website and that was at least 3 or 4 years ago then. Sad story. I've always been critical of his asking prices but seems like the all the folks that have dealt with him say he's a good dude.

Thrust bearing failure MY94 on eBay. IIRC Mark mentioned he has a GTS motor coming in. Color is listed as "Teal" looks like Amazon Green to me. Nice car sans motor. T

Seller is on crack, go look at his other auctions.

I'd love to have that GTS but damn, at that price? LOL

Default Amazon green GTS w/engine failure

Not sure it's going to be worth it, especially an auto with Japanese fenders
Engine: $25k (I think this is the low end right?)
Labor/engine refresh: >$15-20k
Other possible mechanical refresh: $5-10k
Ended with an auto GTS without a GTS motor for >$50k, not counting the body

It makes the LS3 motor 5 spd '95 GTS that was on Cars.com much more tolerable.

^^Could be the right project for someone here with a spare S4, GT or GTS motor sitting around and has the mechanical skills to pull it off or as Hoi says an LS swap (I would never, ever, ever do that and the thought never crossed my mind). Keeping the labor costs out of the equation could make it work...I'll gladly subscribe it someone steps up . IIRC Fred installed an S4 motor in his GTS ? Should be able to negotiate the BIN price over time. T

Sure, maybe buy this now (for $15k) and wait for Mark's end of the year sale 2019 for a 32V motor!
If those Japanese fenders can be easily removed, maybe $20k! I like them as much as I like pinstripes!

You think a GTS motor in Mark’s hands would last until next Christmas?

of course not
it is also won’t be cheaper than $25k, so that Japanese GTS is not worth $15k unless you want to part it out and spend years selling the parts.

Thats a Japanese import, even if perfect it will never be worth 100k. Seller is a crack head. LOL

But it’s just an hour from me if someone needs eyes on it.

I would rather not have MY eyes on "IT" any longer. Those flares are just awful. IMO of course.
