New listing on BaT for a neglected 86.5. Sat for a long time. Looks like a good platform, but catch-up will be heavy$$$.

The white car does not have the appearance that whoever was doing maintenance cared about the quality of their work. I get it, I don't have x-ray vision eyes nor the telekinetic ability to perform a TB check or compression check. But in a head-to-head comparison of those engine bays, there's a clear winner.
Believe it or not, the intake finish is original. It has just been kept very clean (I know that most chemicals are not safe to use on the finishes). The car has been maintained in a climate controlled environment by Rennlist members since 2003 (I'm not sure if the original owner stored the car in a climate controlled environment). The car has been incredibly well maintained, in spite of the accident. These cars are well beyond 20 years old now, so none of them are perfect (were they even perfect when they were new?), but GTSs of this quality are rare.

One note on that white GTS - I've never seen an original vin/build sticker oriented horizontally as it is on that car.

Actually, both are ‘missing’ the jump post covert but both show the 14-pin drip shield. On the white car the latter is flopped-over between the post and the upper hose.

In both cases, I would bet that the jump post covers are hanging on their retainers below the post. Forgetting to put the cover back on the jump post on the white car and not securing the shield with it may lead to loss-of-drip-shield (LDS) syndrome.

The cover is there. I forgot to screw it back on before taking pics.

Good eyes! BTW - I'm not "hate'n" on the white GTS. My engine looked the same when I bought mine; albeit, I paid less than 1/2 the asking price of the white GTS. I just disagree with Nate that it looks like "a potential nice deal." I see nothing in that engine bay that would make me think anyone cared what was going on under the hood.

Default What's my 1982 928 worth?

I'm not a wrench and just bought a 928 a week or so ago and just starting to learn about them. But then I bought a Cayman too and I realized I probably don't need two, specially since I have a 2017 Japanese daily driver sitting outside while the Porsche's are garaged.

So I'm wondering what a group of Porsche forum folks would think my car is worth and what I should or shouldn't do to it?

It's not a dog with a missing motor, but she's not a museum piece either.

I drove it 75 mph for 2 hours after I bought it. Seats look great, dash is good. Paint is good. Car starts first time and runs nice. Has 92k miles but who know since the odometer (and gas gauge) doesn't work. I never even noticed until after I bought it.

Now the negatives. A/C is out, needs new ball joints, muffler, passenger window roller is very slow, missing Blaupunkt ****, front air damn is broken, and the car has fumes when sitting overnight. Im guessing a fuel seal, line, or a crack in the upper part of the fuel tank is letting out vapers. No puddles underneath and the sniff test on the fuel cap seems ok.

So let me post some pictures and hear those who are way more educated with your advice.

It was one hellava show, but I got crashed out and missed all the fireworks. Couldn't even watch, much less comment. And an RNM at over $3M. Wow.

Na, I just wanted to follow that multi million dollar Ferrari. If I ever get one, it'll be a 308 or 328 - those are the ones I like, or the more modern 360 or 430, but that's it.

You may try selling it for what you payed for it, it's only been a week. Have you got the title work all wrapped up?

Don't forget the 288 GTO. The best Ferrari from that era IMHO.
