I've never heard of that option.
It's back:

1989 Porsche 928 GT... ULTRA RARE
This is my personal 1989 Porsche 928 GT...78k Original miles Very Rare Collectible... They only made 50 for the US. On of 5 with the gold engine upgrade Over 8k in recent Maintaince incl New Water pump and Timing Belt. I have all receipts...a completely rust free california car brought to Florida just 3 years ago... Clean Car Fax showing just a few owners since new . If you are a Porsche connoisseur then you may know this but, these are the differences between the 1989 928S4 and the 1989 928GT: The GT has more precise pistons, higher lift and longer duration of cams, lighter and more free-flowing exhaust, different engine computer mapping, idles at 775rpm (instead of 675rpm), has a rev limit of 6800rpm vs. 6600rpm, torque peak at 4100rpm vs. 3200rpm, 326hp vs. 316hp, 8" and 9" wheels vs. 7" and 8" wheels, 17mm rear bolt-on spacers for wider track and factory "cringed" fender lips to guarantee clearance with wider track. the dash in my car has many small cracks and the leather although is good shape i starting to split at some of the seams.
If you are in the market for a 928, then you already know how rare and wonderful the GT is. The 1989 is the most sought after year of the 928GTcars, due to lack of airbags and less complex rear differential. The 1989 also has rolled fenders for larger wheels and tires. This car drives amazing is very powerful and incredible road handling. This is a very rare car and has been maintained Hemings 5-15 article references a 40% increase in value in 2014 and 928s in general showing a 7% increase per year. Hagerty values this car at $62,200 in #1 condition. $43500 in #2 condition.

Thanks Dennis.
I was really torn between going OB or 86.5 or GT.
But, I couldn't be happier with the choice to go with #338.

Hmm, I thought this one just changed hands recently? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-Porsche-928/123016808454?hash=item1ca45f8806:g:y7QAAOSwRE5aZrLX&vxp=mtr.

The
description is awful - horrible spelling, and very misleading. That is hardly an "unmolested" and "absolutely original" car. The air intake tubes are not early style, aftermarket muffler, pipes; some wonky after market alarm system wired in, and who knows what else. All of it reversible of course, but I just don't like the looseness with the description. Nice looking car, and maybe priced right. We'll see.

In less than 10 seconds I count 8 missing parts. Suspect another 5. Likely many more.
