Competition '82
Looks like a relatively simple early 928 w/comp option, MT, and poss. low miles.
Looks decent and clean aside from being relatively boring for the price.
So what gives, Hoi (since you requested us to ask)?

Hi Jim,
This is what I wrote about the car in the following posts. Car is beautiful in pics, and the paint looks great in them (but we all know how deceptive it can be), along with the interior; however, those pics do not show a very large gap with the leather pulling away from the dash vents. The very nice salesperson didn't know to look for them until I asked him to take a pic directly of them. I felt I had a made a very fair offer, especially knowing I would have to shell out another $2-3k for the leather dash to be redone (cannot be saved).
The great unknown are the coolant/engine block and the fuel system. The dealership is owned by the car owner's "friend" who charged him $3k for an oil change, replacements of fuel filter, master/slave cylinders, and "top off" the coolant. We also know what non-928 mechanics can do to 928 drivetrain systems. Additionally, I am very worry about the lack of coolant change for a block sitting with 20 year old coolant (that's why the car's pristine with low mileage, stored for 20 years) nor a gas tank/fuel system flush.
Honestly, I may still buy this particular car, just not the asking. We are close, but not close enough in terms of money.
I will regret not buying this car in the future, but too many projects going around for me to risk on a big unknown like this one.
-triptometer doesnt work, odometer should be (carfax miles at 25,593 in 10/2018, and 25599 now)
-ac doesn’t work
-unknown last wp/tb changes or fuel lines
-sat for 20 years with gas tank drained and fuel pump and filter replaced, but no word on the injectors
-clutch cylinders replaced
-work done by current Ford dealer, whose owned by car owner's friend, who is helping him sell the car
however, the big thing holding me back is the coolant sat in the block for 20 years
-no word if po had distilled water in there or any changes prior to storage over the past 20 years
-last thing, dash’s leather has pulled back pretty badly

After talking to some listers, I gave them an offer that I felt is fair considering the BIG UNKNOWN of the engine block, non-working ac, and dash leather problem, but the dealer is trying to get a little more.
Maybe I will be PM ing you soon for a place to stay to pick up this car and drive home (supposedly 6 hrs from Philly)

What makes this car special is the mileage and overall condition, things that can never be "fixed". These early engines are so cheap, I would buy such a car without worry even if the heads are junk. Once completed with the mechanicals, you'll have a very nice car.
Swap paint condition with a perfect engine / fuel system would you still be interested?
Part of the competition package is those sport seats and the 3-spoke wheel.

I figured that a "perfect" one owner '81 comp with sports seats with true <30k miles is probably worth $40k in today's market; however, without knowing the paint condition (already knew about the dash needing replacement), I cannot justify the $29k for a 2 owner car with 20 years sitting.
Someone with ~$45k extra burning in their bank may/should get this car.

Worth saving, even if it doesn't run. The interior is not trashed.
