Default 1988 White S4 Auto - very well dialed, for sale

Hi guys,

Haven’t posted much on Rennlist, but hope this is the right place. I have an 88 S4 that I’m having a friend sell for me because I just purchased a 90 GT on BAT that needs a lot of work, so I really don’t want to pay the $240 per month parking in DTLA to carry both ! Link to autotrader ad and a few pics below:

Jeremy (friend selling for me) contact info is in the ad.

Hey Adam,

I'm glad it was so far away or else I could be facing one pissed off wife. Only 1 pic but certainly seemed to be priced right.

one more side note: That spare tire is for an early car and will not fit over the brakes on a 1988

Agree with most all that Dennis has stated^^cept the early cars did not come equipped with the large jump post covers. Also think the seller should have sought out a used rear pumpkin muffler/tips before listing. Would be a little leary on the condition of that pascha until seen. I've had to replace the pascha on a MY79, 12,178 mile properly stored vehicle because the seems were coming apart. That said, this OB does not need much and OB's this nice don't pop up very often. Would love to view this beauty at a upcoming event(s) so please someone here please purchase her. T

Tony, I believe it was only the 78's that had no drip cover over the 14 pin connector, but subsequent model years did. Maybe 79 was also coverless?

Also, I agree with Dennis, and should have looked more closely at the add on BaT. That engine bay looks like it has gone through more heat cycles than the mileage disclosed. The zinc plating is really faded, except on a couple of items that look like they were replaced. also the oil can is nearly stripped of its paint (should be black). I wonder if it is the original engine? It has the fuel rails similar to that 83 and 84 cars have, although I do not know when that version was started being used on these cars. I assume this is not a k-jet car?

Overall, beautiful car, but Dennis hit the nail on the head.

Agree with all that is stated above. Met the seller last week and spoke about cars in general for 2 hours at my house. Very nice and honest guy.
I PM'd him regarding all the little details that are needed to be done in order to get top dollars on BaT, since BaT is a long distance auction and most people depends on info and pics. From the service records, doesn't look like the lower ball joints were replaced with steel ones and pics do not properly show them. I linked him with Mark Anderson to purchase the proper exhaust system for this car that would've made it so much more desirable, along with offering him my set of 16" phone dials that should be with manuals (although like my manual '78, 15" was an option for the owner if they so desire for "comfort").

Hopefully, he will heed my advice and get all those little things done and provide a sense of attention to details that bidders love on that site.

Zermatt Silver over Magenta with 48,000 miles. No maintenance history, Japanese origin and appearing to be in great condition cosmetically.

I wonder where it will turn up next?

Was it the fact that it was in Canada? Automatic? The color of the interior?

Has the very cool headlight adjusters which are typical of Japanese market cars.

Interesting. Now there is a 5-speed version in the same color combo on BaT. This time with Japanese fenders.
