Shawn, not the case. Hoi quoted the seller's initial ask, not what he sold it for. Somewhat misleading. I couldn't find the sale, but I remember it was much less. Sold as a resto project.

Not really misleading. Don’t know how “misleading” was in my statement. He was asking for and trying to sell it for $19k. Not sure what the transaction price was. Whatever it sold for, the current owner is stuck with a car that’s not worth $3k asking and he’s not happy with it. Read his posts.

I have to side with Hoi on this.

This is a post from the buyer of the '81 Weinrot on BaT that I was also bidding on:

"SnugBuffalo 57: In early February I ‘won’ a 1981 Euro model, paying full price based on BAT seller’s description, in part, clean title, cold a/c, smooth transmission and engine. Instead, I got no a/c, bad syncros and surging idle/bad engine management system. Title’s VIN number was incorrect but eventually corrected. BAT needs a feedback forum."

One of the things that made me stop bidding on that car was the video. It was cut in such a way that you couldn't tell if the synchros were good or not.

Reading through his Ebay reviews "No Title"; "failed to disclose"; "wrong vin"

Sellers like this are not helping the 928 community.

Just my $.02

BAT better get a handle on bad transactions like this or it will degrade the value of going to BAT ...

Thanks Jeff.

Need I mention here how he screwed me royally on the Weissach that he is currently selling on FB, eBay, and his new auction site? Seller took my deposit and this dealer wired him money then lied about it and blamed me afterwards.

The recent 928's insurgency is without growing pains with "investors" and people trying to make a buck the "easy way". Can't imagine people like Stan, Mark, Greg, etc going to sell/buy cars the way this guy is doing.

OK guys, help the rest of us out here. I have tried to go back and sort thru the threads to figure out who the bad seller is. Who is it? What's has handle here on rennlist, Facebook and on BaT? No point having these kinds of threads if it is nearly impossible to know who we are dealing with.

I think BaT has already jumped the shark. Too many cars, too many dealers, not enough due diligence. Chasin' that $$$$$

Default 86.5 928S For Sale

1986.5 PORSCHE 928S. This is a great entry into the Porsche world or a nice addition to your collection, as it is the rare and desirable original Shark styling with the upgraded S4 chassis, suspension, Brembo brakes, and 5.0 L 32 valve V-8. A Mercedes Benz 4-speed auto transaxle with limited slip differential, is the perfect match. Beautiful, factory original, Guards Red paint and black leather seats, all in excellent condition. Original and rare Blaupunkt Monterey radio. New fuel injectors, plugs, wires, and battery. A/C blows warm but still has some charge. Service records since 1992. 928's are the coming HOT Porsche with dealers already asking $60K. But I can't wait for the gold-rush, so $13,000 or Best Offer now, and you cash in later. Call Ron 586-748-9804
This was my Craigslist ad so you can disregard the hyperbole, since you all are familiar with 928's. I have had a hard time getting this car on Rennlist, and am not sure now, so please excuse my frustration. If you are really interested cal me and we can discuss it mano-a-mano. Don't want to mislead anyone, but don't have time to answer the same inane questions over and over.
Thanks,
Ron

Nice car Ron.

Ron posted this here before and Dave K had a nice endorsement of Ron and his car that I thought should be linked to this ad for those interested.

I agree. Although I still go there daily to check out what pops up, I find myself taking less time to follow the conversation about the cars I am interested in because, quite frankly, there are too many cars too keep up with. So instead of picking just a couple, I pick none. Makes no sense to me why I am doing that. Perhaps there is a psychological tic I need to get have looked at. lol.

Any of you guys in the Dallas area ever deal with Leake Auction? Decent looking '80 auto with no rubbies going up in November. May be some value to be had here.
