I agree with some, there's lots to like. It's an early/euro spec car there's no compressor but it's been mentioned that euro spec cars didn't have one. Cosmetically this car could be made to look really good in a weekend, mechanically is another story I'm sure.
it has the a/c idle solenoid so it's and A/c car. I sure hope that compressor didn't get knocked off that engine. That could be disastrous.

Lots to like here for 5500, but 15g? I bet those seats disintegrate on touch. Pascha doesn't hold up well over time.

Mike, this car has been FS for several years (5?) in NC, always at top of the range even for a low miler. This the first time he has indicated a need to sell. It will remain a mystery like the girl in the white car in American Graffiti.

This photo is one of the best angles I've ever seen a 928 photographed from.

86 Automatic
Very strong running, smooth shifting, tight steering car. Just took a little trip up to Harrisburg and back this morning in it, purrs along on the highway. New timing belt and rollers, pan and cam cover gaskets, rotors and pads. These BBS are perfect and workwith this color, especially in with the pinstripe. Headlights are H4 in perfect shape. Needs a new owner to tackle the next layers of deferred maintenance. I've undergone some major lifestyle changes, and can no longer effectively work on them, at least not here. Been off the road, garaged, for quite some time. Am not certain of mileage, but I think around 125K. $6600 firm. 574 two O two, then mash 4077.

Have to make room for the 928 coming in.
So. I've decided to sell my '87 M491.
If anyone knows anyone looking, please send them my way.
Cheers,
Jeff (TJsBeer)

This one did not sell on BAT, Buyer never showed up with the cash. Owner sold it about a year later, I almost got it but the new Buyer was faster than me. The current owner cleans it up and is reselling.

This is perfect example of what happens with BAT. The car showed as ‘sold’ for a very low amount, even though it never actually sold. This really hurt the seller when it was really time to sell, because this auction was all that came up when you searched the VIN on Google. Ouch

How is the buyer not showing up with the cash for a BaT sale any different from a buyer flaking out on an eBay sale (which happens a ton) or any other public auction? The car still shows as sold. And besides, if a car hammers at any given price that is an accurate reflection of how the market values that car at the time regardless if the buyer shows up with the money or not. In fact if that flakey buyer was not involved that car would have sold for less to the buyer who was bidding against him.

Its totally different. Ebays records on sold cars is limited to a timeframe, BAT is up forever. Any given price ‘sold at auction’ is not market value, everyone knows this. —It’s merely how many buyers are bidding at any given moment. In this particular auction, room was empty with serious buyers.

I know ebay displays sold listings for a time. Not sure for how long. Barrett Jackson, for example, lists their auction results back to 2009. BaT auctions havent been up for that long, 2014 I think.

That particular car absolutely sold for market value, it's specific market value. Everybody knows that market value isn't one value that applies to every VIN number in the bunch. That 928, in that condition, with those many miles, on that day was only worth what it got bid up to. If the so called serious buyers thought it was worth $20k and it was only bid up to $9,100 then of course one of them would have bid at least $9,200. And that was my point about the market valueing that car. The lack of bids say just as much about value as actual bids. Everything for sale is only ever worth what someone finally pays for it, not what you or I or Hagerty thinks it is.

Bingo Nate. In fact, the truest test for market value of a specific car at any point in time is what it hammers for in an open, public auction, especially one like BaT that has a nationwide (if not global) following. Whethe the sale subsequently goes through or not is immaterial to the value determination.
