If it doesn't sell, I would just take the loooooong view and fix it bit by bit. It is quite fast! No CC, with newer cat-back borla exhaust. thanks-Hoi
Oh, that's tempting. It's a good thing I'm not looking for another 928.

Age-showing patina could be from storage.

The CarFax shows two entries.

Dash is pulling. Bad corrosion as you mentioned on front of engine.

But at the same time, mileage consistent patina on the intake paint.

Pictures carefully framed to avoid the exploding dash and no shots of the driver's seat bolster. If the car spent lots of time under a cover in a non-climate controlled environment, condensation could play hell with hardware under the hood. Wilmington is right on the ocean, in between Myrtle Beach and Surf City. That is one rare car given the color, 86.5 and five speed.

M018 Sports Steering Wheel with Elevated Hub -30mm 427 4264
I158 Radio, Blaupunkt Monterey (1986) or Reno SQR 46 (1987) 866 13989
M220 Locking Differential - 40% (87-89) 895 12515
M319 Changed Step-up of Fan - Japan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Australia 683 3275
M474 Shock Absorber (SPORTING) Front and Rear 388 6229
M481 Manual Transmission 307 4919
M490 Sound System 1974 14913
M494 Additional Amplifier 1491 17772
M533 Anti-Theft Device 1739 19935
M570 Air Conditioner with Improved Efficiency (Rear A/C) 547 7191
M650 Electrical Sliding Roof 2261 38586
M900 Tourist's Cars - USA , Canada

If the paint is good and original, it is a good buy at that price even if it needs a new dash and the usual stuff. I would if I could.

Strut tower bar? Probably been sitting. A lot of deferred maintenance due. $18K would be right for well sorted piece.

There are some issues but 18k is quite low for anything with that many documented miles. I wokld
be very concerned about the wear being shown.

You might be right, no jump post cover takes 10k off right away.

Window switches show no wear, but how do you get a black console and dash with a brown pod, steering wheel and shift ****/boot?

TWO '78 manuals, one is a cashmere-beige. Both needs a ton of work but the cashmere beige may be rare enough to worth a restoration, if they can be had for cheap!

I'd be more interested in the Barracuda behind it.

^^^My goodness, how stupid do people think everyone else is. Ad says those two junkyard gems "ran when parked". I would suggest that there is a zero likelihood of that being true. Just look at the wiring. Especially the cashmere car. These are parts cars. I can see nothing soft of salvagleble value, and the metal bits look pretty bad too.

Most likely due to belt failure (or associated bits) and engine trashed. Insurance wouldn't cover the costs of repairs. This car looks very familiar to me and if it's the one I think it is, the owner didn't want to pay the price I quoted for a belt job and he tried it himself, resulting in bad things. When I quoted him the price to fix the engine he coughed and never heard from him again.
