Hi Guys, small update on auto tranny shifting, etc
As some may have read of my woes with my 87 S4, that I picked up last year, and was slowly working out the problems, on, last Thursday was my inspection date, but I never made it. My appointment was at 3pm, and I had a heart attack at 11:00a.m. But, I did drive it on the street for a few minutes, to realize it was overheating a bit, so I shut it down and was checking the thermostat when the attack happened. So, as they say **** happens, but, one minor surgery(a stint) later, I am good to go. Just no driving for a month.
My tranny was shifting, a tad sluggish, and capable of going up hills without struggling too much.
I took out the coolant from the rad to remove the thermostat, and it flowed out quickly, so I have to check this problem out. Both fans worked well, and stayed running till the motor was cooled down, about 10 mins. I have a digital thermometer at my disposal, and will check this when I am able to.
It was 30 mins of bliss driving the car.... Now the doc says no driving for a month..Hey, at least I am still here.
Cheers guys

Dang, take care of yourself and leave the stress of the car alone. Glad you are here to tell us about it though. Good luck.

He doesn't want you to drive any car, or just the 928?
I went in six years ago, hoping a stent or two would fix me up, but it took four bypass grafts. The beta blocker they put me on keeps me calm, even through hairy 928 procedures.

Take good care Don.
We never know what can happen in life.
Like Cosmo said, the car will be there for you when you recover.
I hope we'll have the chance to meet this summer.
Morin Heights and Gatineau are in the same neck of the woods!

For sure we will hook up, Bertrand.
Curt: It is no driving for a month. He did not pull my licence, he said I could go pick up a quart of milk, just not in Ottawa.I am taking a lot of pills.

I was not supposed to drive for a month (or even ride in the front seat), mainly because an airbag deployment to the chest would be very bad. That would have made the 928 the best car to drive!
You've probably heard about the Adirondack's 46 High Peaks, and becoming a "46er". I did them all two years after my episode - my "Bypass 46". You will be fine if you consider your doctor's advice as you would Greg Brown's.
One more thing: no axle nuts for a month.

So true! The good thing is, I only have two small bolts to tighten up for the thermostat, and re-tighten the hose. Plus, I have a two foot bar, that makes easy work of wheel bolts..... but, everything is good in that department.

Sorry to hear about the car and heart troubles. It sounds like you're both slowly on the mend. Follow the advice of the experts and you'll both be running great sooner than later.
