Default high RPM at statrup?

I recently send the car to a mechanic to redo the manifold gasket(First manifold gasket change made a whistle/air gushing sound) & he changed the throttle body seals & clean the throttle body, hose etc etc. Car is fine now & can feel the power etc.

Only thing that's annoys me the high RPM at startup. If I shift to D. The RPM will be normal & if I shift back to P- The RPM will be a bit high.

Sometimes when warm- the car will be OK. (RPM is normal). The mechanic said give the car sometimes & always drive it around. Everything under neat is new like the manifold gasket, clean throttle body & new seals etc. hose under the throttle body is changed.

It would help if you can define what you mean by high rpm. When cold these cars typically fire up at around 1000 rpm then as the engine warms up the rpms drop until they reach the target of 675 rpm.

Remember that when you are in D there is a small load on the transmission that wants to move the car forwards unless you hit the brake pedal, when you put the transmission back into P the load is removed so temporarily the motor tends to speed up a bit but then the ISV should kick in to compensate. Maybe you have a problem with the ISV- I seem to remember you posted something about this a few weeks ago?

If your idle is fine and shift to park and the idle is high....900 rpm or more then you may have a crack on the vacuum hose connected to the throttle body.
