I seem to have an extra seal from my compressor seal kit, that I have no idea what it is for.

Is this a generic kit that provides another seal for a different application?

The one on the right is the one in question.






This unit was a rebuilt so I am wondering if the seal with the O ring on the outside was meant to go on the other end of the shaft deep inside. If so, it was never put in when rebuilt.
