History of these cars on the dyno says that calculation isn't terribly accurate.

Carl recently posted a 4.7 liter with no CAT and a borla exhaust that put down 206rwhp. All things being equal this car would be 14hp less with the same mods.
These numbers are in line with other 4.5's I've had on the dyno that were in the lower 180's in stock form.

Got it and to think the 81 Corvette had but one engine choice in 81, a 305cu in 180crank hp so lets say approx 150 at the rear wheels-pathetic. T

Nice car! Wouldn't take much to bring this to the next level. I like it all, the seats and even the color. Very period correct!

Thanks for all the insight guys.
I'm going to see where my 500E finishes on BaT tomorrow. But, I think I'll be bidding on this one.

Thanks for all the commentary, fellas. (and for your bids, TJ)
Didn't think about the fact that my ebay username might look sketchy when selling a car.. oops!

I haven't driven a 32V car, but this "little" 4.5 is fine for me. The car is certainly no slouch! Or maybe it's the 85MPH speedo spinning up so quickly that tricks me into thinking it's quick? Naaaah...

Without upselling it too much - I've been around plenty of old Porsches, and the condition and originality of this car is really something else. I know I don't have to tell this crowd about the fact that 928s have been unloved, "cheap" cars and neglected or butchered. If this was a 911SC in similar spec/condition, it'd be a $40k car (and I'd rather have the 928)

Good luck with your auction - Looking like you'll be happy!

Thanks for the pics. And I think I know of the Euro car you're referencing - Tobacco? If so - awesome deal!

Interesting color, interesting int option(really an 80s thing), rowing trans, 16" phone dials. These are the elements that make this a good pickup for someone, not the 0-60 times. It's a touring car folks...

Doc, I agree. This is a statement car, not a muscle car. A true Porsche classic. I love that interior. I also like the lines without the spoiler. Really, this is a car I really like to have in my garage. If I wasn't already Porsche poor, I would be all over this.

Overseas buyer, interesting given the recent weakness of the Euro or perhaps because of it in the search for alternative investments. People wanting things and not paper.

I think the market just isn't "there" yet in the US. The general consensus on prices for the '78 I just sold and the consensus that the price I wanted for this car was "strong money".. These are still under appreciated. Look how many great air-cooled cars left the country before we figured it out over here.

Ah well, the buyer is well-chuffed and that's all that matters! I've got to find another '78-'79 driver for myself. I'm hooked!

Good 928s are worth a lot more in Germany than they are over here. Glad it found a good home!

Beautiful car and still sold under-priced. The good, well kept, documented cars ones are really, really getting harder to find. German/overseas buyers are certainly taking a close look at our market. When I was out there last summer a 150km car minerva Pascha '79 with way more issues than this one (required paint and bodywork, clutch rattly, Pascha had been replaced with leather) but perfect dash/pod, some paperwork, etc. SOLD shortly after I looked at it for 20k euro's.
