Im not a purist..I don't believe the easy way out is the classy way out.

More like build of the WEAK....considering some of the hybrid 928s that have been done !! there is NOTHING unique, exceptional, well designed, or well executed about this car. And if that is a carburetor under that stupid mesh air cleaner it just gets worse. Running around without a hood seems pretty silly too.
Forget about "purist" this thing is offensive for all the wrong reasons.

Well, I thought I was a purist, but I would like to see FBIII's '82 dyno against this. If I could have FBIII's car in flat black with a hood . . . I might go for it.

FWIW, I kinda like the paint and stance of this car, but unless I see numbers (I can't ride in both for the comparison) this is not doing it for me.

I'm all for engine swaps in forsaken 928s, but that is the most boring engine swap you could make. It is literally the most popular swap here in the states.

Do something interesting like a 32v modular ford 4.6 or coyote swap, even a lexus V8 or V12 like Dinsdale has done would be awesome.

But a carb, chevy 350, and no hood on a 928... This isn't a chevette, give the poor car some dignity for what it is.

Forget puritanism, it's just not that interesting. It does give ideas on upgrading my garage lighting.

In the past, I measured the engine bay for an Olds 455. (Had one) Talking with a friend who did a Chevy swap (two, actually) I realized it would be cheaper and better to replace the broken 928 engine with another 928 engine.

It would have fit and a dual-quad tunnel ram would have been awesome...and unique.

OK, Now just put on a set of overhead cam cylinder heads and Bosch Fuel injection. Push rod V-8s are SOOO last century, why not put a flat head straight-8 in it??

Sure, some folks here will probably find it abominable, but Nick’s been cranking on this thing for years. He’s obviously comfortable working on it, probably because the car must be far simpler than working on a normal 1982 928.

I think some of the allure of the 928 is the absurd impossibility that I face from time to time... I want my 928 to "be far simpler" to me because I am developing skills, knowledge, experience, as opposed to pulling out the big part in the middle that makes me cry....

And he’s made it his own, especially with that menacing flat black with metallic flake paint. It makes it something else entirely different than a 928, while still retaining those classic good looks.

No problem with this, on the other hand. It's his own, and he's a car guy, so that makes it all cool again. Glad he likes it and enjoys it. He would probably laugh if he saw the hopeless mess in my garage.

It's a very clean build, most transplants look like a birds nest of wiring and junk yard parts.

However......the use of a carb is just lazy. It would look much better with a F.A.S.T. intake manifold and custom airbox.

Two brothers were only 20 & 23 when car was finished. Cool, clean, lightweight, low $ build that looks like it's ready for some track duty=FUN :burnout:

Ah, got it "track rat" ... better than crushing it. No doubt much faster than the old Very Brown 1980 that I "raced" for years :)

I'm fairly certain that I saw this very car going for cheap on Chicago's Craigslist last fall. I could be wrong, but I am like 95% sure this was the one. I remember the no hood and mesh intake. Not for me, but looks cool though.
