That's an old Escort radar detector in the console.

I know this car well. It is owned by a guy that owns a successful repair and body shop not too far from my house. I met him over a decade ago when I saw this car parked in front of the shop. I took a close look at about a year ago. The repaint was not done very well. Trim pieces were painted that should not have been. There were other issues as well, but I don't remember all the details. I know he had the tranny rebuilt many years ago. I think the car has been sitting quite a bit for many years. I have always thought he was asking too much for it, but if you get serious, I'd be happy to take another look at it. Most of the work he mentions, like timing belt, was done a long time ago, but probably not many miles since. The owner does have access to lots of tools and mechanics that work for him, but they are a general repair shop not specializing in Euro cars. The shop name is Galson Auto and Body on Huffmeister. They did some body work on my son's BMW recently and they were pretty good to deal with.
Also, notice dash and pod covers, so probably cracked.

Thanks Don, Mickster and Otis,
I've noticed this car several times on craigslist and Expo Motorcars off of I-45N. I figured something had to be off about it since it is still looking for an owner. I worry about the quality of work if not performed by a porsche mech or one of the talented folks on rennlist. It seems there are better cars out there for that price...
Thanks again,
michael
