The IMi units came off 928's but they are not the revised Sterling version

Default Latest info on IMI Mini Starter

I just contacted IMI (sales@hitorque.com). They still produce the modified starter that Sterling help develop (PN: IMI-101-928).
The price is $289 plus shipping.
I ordered today and it's already in the mail. Great customer service from IMI.

IMI makes two versions of their 101 starter for European cars. The IMI-101 and IMI-101N.

This is the IMI-101. Notice the black 1.2KW motor.

This is the IMI-101N. Notice the larger 1.4KW higher output motor.

The 928 version (IMI-101-928) of the starter seems to be based on the IMI-101N. Here is a summary of the modifications:
  • Re-clocked housing to ft under oil pan and electrical connection facing down.
  • 11-tooth drive gear widened to fit 928 flywheel
  • 1.6kw motor

Glad to hear they are still making them to order. Post pics when you get it. I will post pics when I find them or can get the starter out of a box.
