Default Steering wheel locking ignition switch

Ok, twice in the last two days, I have come out to the car, stuck the key in the switch and it would not turn.

I can move the steering wheel around and eventually get the ignition to turn, but it does not happen quickly and it has me spooked. This has never happened before, then I get it twice in two days.

There has been no work done to the car in or around the key or the pod.

Am I over reacting here, or is there a known issue here I am unaware of.

Thanks.. Gary

Default Retry

If I pull the wheel left till it locks, to unlock, I have to pull all the way to the end of the travel till it locks while wiggling the key for it to unlock.

Is that normal? Possibly, I am overreacting here.

Do you have a keychain with other keys on the ignition key? If yes, remove them all and spray a little WD40 or something similar in there.

Default 3 keys

Black Key, Red Key, House Key. I will try the WD though. Thanks.

If the steering column locks with pressure against the system - that is, if the steering wheel isn't freely floating with no pressure in either direction - it will usually take a bit of turning of the wheel to relieve the pressure on the locking bar so that you can easily turn the key.

The above is a complex run-on sentence...

Reminds me of a time a long time ago when my mother and dad got into the car with my dad in the drivers seat and when he tried to start the car his key would turn the ignition switch but nothing happened. He tried several times, and then my mother said try a different key, and she offered up hers. My dad was frustrated at that kind of "female logic," but in order to show just how stupid is was he tried it and the car started. He was beside himself.

Maybe you should try a different key?
