Building and engine and fixing an engine are two totally different things. The OP seems to be didn't it so, only fix what's broken and leave the rest alone OR propey rebuild the whole thing. Unless the bearings are labeled what cylinder they came from, some measuring is in order.

I think will replace the connecting rod bearings and re-ring.

Here are some pictures of the crankshaft bearings:

Virtually everything said in the prior pages can be easily simplified....don't assume bearing clearances. Measure or have your machinist measure the crankshaft and the bearings installed in the rods to confirm you have adequate oil clearance.

My plan is to simply replace the rod end bearings. I will have them measured. I pulled the thrust bearing and that will also be replaced along with the piston rings.

Default bearings

Speaking of bearings I would like to know where is the best place to find rod and main bearings they seem hard to find and any I've seen have been very expensive.

Your favorite Porsche parts retailer. Yes, they are expensive.

Default main bearings

the ones that I could find were over 50.00 a pair and up that's why I was asking if there were places that were not so exspensive?

One more bearing to replace - note the scoring that goes all around the inside - the journal is perfect.
