Well. Somebody finally brought [B]CHICsuming both their meat and their eggs. The earliest known domes as meringues and mousse. Mark please reread the page you circled...it states they are units of work or energy NOT POWER. Your statement above is WRONG so YOU NEED to RTFM. Or your own posts you actually end up arguing with and contradicting yourself more than any one else.
the kinetic energy has NOTHING to do with how many seconds or hours one has accelerated, how much aero drag there is, or rolling resistance....it is simply mass and velocity at a given moment in time. To argue otherwise is about as meaningful as arguing the formula for the area of a circle.

Glen said it was "wrong" and i showed that it wasnt. the rest of the discussion was around if the KE might be higher with the heavier car at top speed before braking, how can there be less heat or power to dissipate on the decel.......? the answer is because of the rate of change of speed (decel rate) being less for the heavier car. even though there might be even more KE dissipated on the decel, if it happens over a longer time, there can be less heat dissipated per unit time.
as far as the physics goes.. i had posted the correct statement initially, and here is the original post that Glen called incorrect. in the end, it is correct. a hp-second IS a unit measure of work, not power.

and if you want to see the point Glen made about the time which power is applied determines the KE, shown in a acceleration chart for two identical cars but one being 500lbs heavier than the other... its found here. this shows that the heavier car has more KE at the same position on the track before decel. 6%-8% higher depending on the exit speed of the prior turn or (start) . But the rate of decel for the ligher car can have higher demands on the brakes to get to the proper turn in speed. (even if it is slightly higher). this is the net net of the brake discussion for heavier vs light cars having the same HP
