"a surge in some of the ’80s cars.”
From a NY Times article today on the Monterey auctions: “You see a lot of the Silicon Valley guys,” Mr. Moffat said. “They’re buying supercars of their youth. So that’s why you’re seeing a surge in some of the ’80s cars.”
Glad I kept my air pump. It's in that box right there....

The 928 will eventually surge in price.
I won't like it.

Sadly for sellers, happily for buyers! I was an unhappy prospective buyer for an '87 911 - the best air-cooled no-nanny end-swapper classic 911 - but a happy '87 928 buyer at half the price. If the Silicon Valley guys change their tune, I might change mine, too. Unlikely.

Here in the UK there seems to have been a big jump in prices in the last year or so compared to the lows after the financial crisis. I would say prices gone up 2 or 3 times what they were. 2x for a quick sale perhaps. Seems in line with other cars.
