Default Stupid things people have said about 928s

hi!
I saw a similar tread on 944 forum, and i did not find a similar tread for 928.
today i wanted to start this one because an idiot this morning stated that" it is really ugly to see porsche badges on a Nissan 300zx ". this that is the straw that breaks the camel....

my wife , that knows only that wheels are preferrably round and that the Keys is that piece of the car to start it,noticed the shape of the car with headlights on and told me " buy me a pink newbeetle, so we are the kermit and piggy family"....

have you got stupid stuff like this to report?

I had just joined the local PCA region and the membership chair said "Oh, it's not one of the good Porsches."

If you really want to hear stupid and uninformed remarks, get a late model Corvair...

I was telling a friend what I'd bought and he was trying to remember just what a 928 was, and asked "Isn't that the one that was styled like the AMC Pacer?".
Really??????

A mechanic friend of a friend, when he saw under the hood: "OH, you got one of the V-8s! I usually just see these with the 4."

I'm guessing he was confusing it with a 944...

Many years ago, I worked on a few projects with a Japanese project team developing some high-power semiconductors. Their team leader, a very carefully polished gentleman, would listen to criticism and such, then respond starting with "So sorry for your ignorance. ..." Reality is that those who might know 'about' the 928 have learned from people who don't.

For other Porsche owners who are curious, I hand them the keys. At SoCal Sunday C&C events, lots of curiosity. I offer anyone the opportunity to "try it on!" with a sit in the driver's seat to get a better feel for the car.

As in most things, I can cure ignorance, but 'stubborn and stupid' can be a lot tougher.

One of my brothers tried to argue with me that the S4 was 4 wheel drive.

I had some punk 20 something driving his Dad's brand new 911 at a local car show park next to my 82.

He got out of his car and commented that his Dad had owned a 928 years ago and sold it for a case of beer.

Obviously trying to get a rise out of me, I had to restrain myself from firming planting my size 12 square in his ***.

With many car guys watching, I just said, "What do you know about the car you are driving, except maybe how big the check was your daddy wrote to buy it."

Since he was a very short kid with an obvious Napoleon complex, I told him I has no idea the new 911 seats had a child setting.

He slunk off amid quite a bit of laughter. Rich kid idiot.

I endured a funny one once.
Someone who knew me said, 'I thought you had a Porsche, not a Ferrari'.
And yes, it was a 'Porsh'.

My wife said the same, which was lead in part by the fact I used to own a Probe.

As for stupid things said, here's one I uttered a few months back:

"I'll buy this used 928 and just drive it around. I won't need to work on it at all."
