Hack, you look like a tool now, almost worse than the noob above.

I stated my opinion that the new vette is a much better value than the over-hyped GTS oil burners that killed the car off. We have had many discussions here about that. It has always been stated that I would take an 85/86 euro above all other 928's. Many long discussion on that also. I don't like a ZL-1 over a 928. And I really could care less about some loser blowing $30 mill on a paper weight.

So live with it, I like the Z06 Z07 over the bloated GTS for 100K. Just like you like ANY Aston or Cobra over any 928.

I had one, and didn't fit in it, with the seat flat back against the bulkhead. I still drove it for 6 months because it was a hoot to drive.. putting the back end out on roundabouts at 30mph was awesome

I drove one years ago at the Melbourne Car show, same time as the GP was on, in the car park.. GREAT fun.

Then again, I drove a Mitsubishi Colt with a god awful CVT as a work car for 18 months, and I still maintain that it was more pants ****tingly exciting at 40kmh through a roundabout than a 928 can ever hope to be...

These cars and some others make it impossible to say the 928 beats them. --------- This new vette is the first that looks awesome to me and sounds incredible, not to mention the automatic rev matching feature. So yeah the lesson is -------------- Time changes stuff!
Last 5 years? There have been many, many common cars since this millenium that would outrun a 928. BMW Ms, MB AMGs, Vettes, Vipers, Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, ISF, NSX, XKR, and many, many more and most are under $100k. The ones that you mentioned should not even belong to the same sentence with the 928. So you think these super cars are what finally displaced the 928 in the automotive stardom?! I love the 928 for what it is and I would not make all kinds of delusional statements to justify the ownership. Automatic rev matching has been around for years so you just learned about it?
If all you care is performance, then you certainly do not need a C7 Z06 to beat the 928. A 2002 C5 Z06 will leave the 928 behind like it were standing still and you can get one for pennies, fraction of the $300k that you stated.
Chuck's car is worth the asking price to the right buyer but it is not the performance or lack of it that justifies that $120k.

One buys a six figure 928, or any other sports car on the planet for that matter, in order to NOT be a "corvette guy".

It's always the same. Slightly paunchy grey haired middle aged guy wearing a Hawaiian or muscle car gathering T-shirt of the Budweiser drinking and TGI Fridays variety. At C+C it took a whole 6 months for 25% of the lot to be filled with the Vettes. Everyone has a corvette. They can't drive it, but they have one.

Part of the reason for owning a 928 is to not drive what everyone else does, at least that's part of my reason. I live in a fairly small town and there are already 6-10 of the C7 Vettes here, but only 1 or 2 928s. I have enough money into my 928 where I could have had a brand new Corvette or a number of other cars - don't really want one.

Although the C7 is the first Vette I like to look of, but only in black because any other color shows off all the black plastic pieces on the car like the hood vent, complete bottom of the rear bumper, upper quarter panel vents, etc. IMO it only looks good in black where everything matches.

I've driven a few Corvettes and am never too disappointed when I turn them back into Hertz, but they do make a fairly fun rental car to flog on for a few days. Now if they come out with the alternate mid-engine based Duntov Corvette the rumor mill is buzzing about, that might be something, at least for a few years until everything starts to squeek and rattle.

At some point in life, you may just accept the fact that others have more free money to spend on "toys" than you do. They have so much money that the way they spend it probably will never make sense to you (or me.)

Getting back to cheap new cars that challenge old super cars... has anybody looked at the Fiat 695 Biposto. Here you have an econobox that can get to 60mph almost as fast as a 928.

The gearshifter and interior looks great. If it weren't for the electronic dashboard, I might even buy one of these to putt around town in. It's more in my price range than a USD 1250'000 GTS and probably more "my style" than a vette, except for the electronic dashboard that kills the whole charm for me.

You and many others on this thread have NOT UNDERSTOOD a word I said. Not only did the 928 do great things in terms of sound and handling and comfort, BUT it was better looking than any of the many sports cars and super cars that could out accelerate it. LOOKS GENIUS! Cars like the Diablo, murciealago, 599, 550, 360, panamera, 996, 997's, all BMW's, mercedes SL's, AM's until the newest Vanq and previous generation Corvette's were FUGLY vehicles on the outside and inside.

The new Z06 Z07 is a great looking car and sounds awesome. (btw the rev matching feature is remarkably different now and is mentioned by many experienced reviewrs)The Huracan is the best looking Lambo ever imo (over miura and aventador). The P1 great, the 570 best. So now we have great looking cars, that perform so much better ---------###### 5.2sec vs. 4.2sec not so big --- 5.2sec vs. 2.9sec HUGE ############-------- The competitors have finally made the mix right, great performance with beauty!

One of the best looking cars ever designed IMO and in the opinion of the reviwer and many commenters, rivals the 928 in terms of design for me ---

Me too, they hit a home run, looks, sounds, technicals, out of this world performance, SUB 3.0 0-60 stop in 90 feet vs. 134 for an S4. The whole package finally from a vette

Whoever ends up buying it likely wouldn't even consider buying a Corvette as an alternative. It will likely go to a Porsche collector who is looking for a mint 928 GTS. Also, $126K isn't a lot in the classic car world.

Wow,
I just read this thread all the way through, thought it was about Chuck Z's Gts...... 😜😜😜

Chuck, glad to see you are still alive and kickin man! 👍🏼👍🏼

J-Rod, thx for posting, you always seem to find all the rare/highly collectibles out there! Hope you had fun in Seaside area!

Chuck's old car is probably the nicest GTS on the planet.. Love the color combo!! Agree, collector will ****** that up for sure and will not drive it..

I do love the red calipers, about to do the the same to mine.

Stay on this one J-Rod, we all want to know where this car ends up!
👍🏼👍🏼

Most track capable Corvette, ever. - Not what's actually being reported, unfortunately. 9/10, maybe

Comparing to an s4 is really goofy though. Time marches on, and many earlier Corvettes would beat the s4 in all categories except rear seat room But claiming the C7 Z06 is the end-all, is disingenuous
