Looks like rear end damage as well as being poorly kept..but it's still a 89GT :D

Google search on the vin brings up a bunch of salvage auctions where it was listed..

Let's see ... buy for $4,300 (current bid) plus new paint & interior & unknown set of mechanical/service needs ... great way to spend $25k ?

That's Pavel K., great guy. I'm surprised (and pleased) he's not pulling it apart, though perhaps the auction is the litmus test to see whether it's worth more in 1 piece vs. 1000 pieces.

The thought had not escaped my mind, though that is a _lot_ of cosmetics that I'm not qualified to do. Deserves to be saved, though.

TMU, as it's unlikely that's the original gauge cluster, and there's a mismatch in the Carfax mileage record. Tread carefully.

Yes this is my car for sale(Thx Rob), I would hate to pull it apart and crush it in the end that's why it's for sale. I am sure I can get more if I part it out but I am a Porsche guy at heart like the rest of you and will try to sell for someone to save if I can.

I do however believe that the odometer discrepancy might have been a recording mistake but can't back it up other then that it was last recorded at a emissions station and to my experience I have seen many cars that have had mistakes at recording mileage at emission stations.
Actually my personal 993 also has a wrong emission station recording.

That being said the car is a Big Project not for the faint of heart, but in my opinion the 89' GT's will be the most collectible 928.

I purchased an 87 from him last October. Absolutely zero surprises, very happy with the car.

If this were an 87 911 and all things being equal, people would be plowing through the door like the mob on black Friday outside of Wal-Mart to own it.

The day is coming for the recognition of these cars, where will you be when you look back on this one and say: "Damn it.......that was worth saving"


If I had the room this would be a fun car to do a full mechanical restoration and leave the cosmetics for another year or 3. Just enjoy the hell out of it while never caring about a rock chip, door ding etc.... This is the mistress that hides in the back of the garage waiting to go prowling at 1AM when the roads are empty.

Rob, just buy it already. Your wife will forgive you. If not, Mark's couch is very comfortable.

I don't think it just sat in a barn, it looks like it spent a lot of time sitting outside as well.

The one thing that would scare me is that spot under the rear quarter window. That's not a simple sand and paint rust repair. The rest of the car isn't too bad if priced accordingly and the buyer wants to get into a major project.

There's room in the garage and the man cave is open as well

Buy it, do the timing belt, water pump and fuel lines and drive the living snot out of it. Almost everything else can be done over the long term.
