Non- running car on Bring a Trailer

I confess, I bought it !
Now what to do with it.
The owner ( nice guy ) is convinced that it has a brittle loom with a short.
He bought a replacement from Mark ( 928Intl) which he was told was just a brittle as the current one. We will have to take a look at both.
I think it could be the factory alarm or the ignition switch.
The PO was taking it to a mechanic in New Brunswick Canada , which I would imagine, not sure but, not the skill level of a Greg Brown or RL group.
Next the car will be shipped to me here in Oakland where we quickly learn what to do next.
It appears that I will be selling my 80 as I just don't have the room for both.
More on that later on as it will be while.

Congrats on the buy vanster!
As much as I hate to see a shark leave the east coast of Canada, its good to know it has made its way into the hands of an enthusiast. I followed this BAT auction daily and was amazed at the level of interest and feedback from the community.
I would have loved to put this one in my garage beside my '85 garnet red 5 speed, but I am sure doing so would have lead to me paying a heavy price on the home front.
Best of luck getting the no start issue sorted out!

vanster,
My congratulations as well. I think by the time you have a few hours of diagnostic work and maybe a few $$, you will have a VERY nice car. Glad it worked out for you.

Vanster... Well done, sir. Congrats.
I, too, was surprised at all the comments during the auction.
This was a positive result that netted some good press for the 928.
Wonder what it would have gone for if it was a running car?

With the condition of that paint and interior, I would have paid that all day long for that car.
Good buy IMO, for both parties. A solid yet honest price.
Good luck with the project.

Congrats and good for you!!! We had it at 7,928 until the auction did 3 min reset
I'd start with the easy stuff and then check all signals back to CPU's, but I'm sure you know the drill.
All the best,
Dave

Hi Vanster,
Great purchase! A friend of mine was interested in bidding for this one too... He couldn't justify the shipping costs though.
When you figure it out, would you mind letting us know what the resolution is to start-up & running problems? I'm really curious what the root cause turns out to be.
Regards,
Mike

I was watching that car and saw your name as a bidder Van. I think you got a good score there- doesn't Carl Fausset make a plug and play replacement wire harness? Congrats on the score!

Oh, man! I'm so happy to see you here continuing the story, vanster. I wanted that car desperately, but did not bid because I'm in no position to afford the divorce. No, it's not her fault. I have put her through all manner of "cars we can't really afford" hell for 30+ years, and I used up my 928 quota late last year with a nice 50 K mile 91 S4.
Still, I commented on the BaT thread as "Klink" and read every comment cheering to myself as it went on. I have loved these cars since their introduction, and I am so happy to see them finally getting some of the respect they deserve. Very best to you, and enjoy your new shark. Damn, I love that color combo...
