Magnus Walker checking out the GTS

It could be a contest at some get together. It could combine concourse or cars, wrenching skills, 928 knowledge and spokesmodelling.
No swimsuit competition.

[QUOTE=LexVan;12439272]He's also built a multi $100 million dollar apparel brand before Porsches. You should also read about the multi million dollar charity work he and his wife do in the community.[/
I am right to have my own opinion like you can have yours!?
And no, I dont care much for self centered social media people. "Look at me, look at me"!
And for his Porsches. Putting flames over the fenders, stickers on the wind screen and painting the hood blue on a red car is not genius in my world. But if it rocks your boat - good for you.
As Mangus would probably say, "peace bro"!

What's wrong with Mr. Walker liking the earlier 928 better than the GTS? I prefer the earlier 928. Mr. Walker seems to be a upstanding Porsche guy unlike some pretentious Porsche "aficionados" who care nothing but values of their collectors' Porsches. He drives his cars as he enjoys them this way, the proper way in my book.

Steve, I never said there was anything wrong with Magnus liking the earlier 928's better - just recounting what happened. I too like the looks of the early cars, just prefer the performance of the later cars.
Cheers.

No, my comment was not directed to you. In fact, your first post clearly showed your respect for Mr. Walker and your appreciations for his liking of your car. My post was responding to all these negative posts towards the man and seeming defenses for the GTS. Walker just said he preferred the earlier 928 but people are insulting him left and right.
Cheers,

I, too, prefer the original body style (especially the butt), but prefer the modernized electrics and performance of the later cars.
I assumed Magnus was JUST a social media hipster with a crafted appearance for marketing purposes (he is all that)...I wanted to dislike him. Then I watched this: https://vimeo.com/44410797
I like him and I like what he's done for that run down part of LA. He's been poor much longer than he's been rich, and I sense he doesn't want his values to change. I think it's interesting that Porsche invited him to Germany. Porsche realizes that the car culture is not very strong in the younger generation. I've been teaching high school for over 20 years. I've seen a huge decline in the past 10 years - but don't dare take away their Smartphones! Porsche were wise enough to realize that the Magnus Walker demographic is a part of the social media present and future, and the Marcus Welby M.D. demographic is the past (and dying off). I think Porsche was also impressed by how much of a life-long Porsche purist Magnus really is, because while he does modify the cars significantly he never strays away from what a Porsche is supposed to be about -- even going back to the early roots of Porsche. This film got Porsche's attention and likely instilled a sense of nostalgia in Stuttgart. It did for me. Great film making, too.
