NARDI Wood steering wheel - anyone?

I've never been a fan of wood steering wheels on anything made after 1972.

That was until I bought the 1980.....I started to think such a look would fit, and then I saw this which solidified the idea with this color combo.

I'm not really a fan of that wheel with the polished spokes, so I stared to look for something else and found the NARDI wheel, this I like:

Before I shell out $300+ to see how this looks, has anyone else ever fitted a 928 with this wheel?

My ex-Callaway turbo came with one when I got the car.....it was the first thing removed. Yuck. Totally did not fit the interior style of the 928. Don't do it.

Wow, are we going to have to organize an intervention ????

To my eyes, it's at least as pleasing as a 928 wheel is in an Aston or Jensen.

Deep Corn? Kinda name is that for a steering wheel?

Specifically which wheel did you have? As I noted above, the Nardi is about the only one I've seen that I think would look good. If it were cheaper I would roll the dice just to find out.

I may order it anyway since I like it better than the "period correct" boat size wood wheel on my replica cobra.

One aspect of the Nardi I like is the dish, most wood wheels are "flat" which IMO looks cheap.

Of all the hair-brained ideas over the years, this one needs an intervention?

It's always those fine details with you, isn't it? :p

A chacun son gout ... as the French would say ...

It just sounds like something that would come out of a Midwestern porn name generator.

For what it's worth, I have a Nardi wood rim wheel in my 928S4. It's the version with the black spokes, and I like the way it looks in my all black interior. The car had the stock wheel installed when I bought it last year, but the covering was showing signs of wear. I'd removed the Nardi wheel from my early 911 when I sold it, so all I had to buy was a hub adapter to fit the 928.

You need a few more projects to keep you in the garage? I could ship you some random parts or something to tinker with.

Todd is small, we could box him up and red label him to your house, that would keep you busy for a while.

More a 60's British car look in my opinion. One that had a matching wood dash face.

Had a tiny similar one in an early series one Europa, made getting in and out of the car a bit easier. That car was also 3/4-turn lock-to-lock. I always felt like it needed driving gloves. For the 928, I'd put the $300 towards the correct sport or 930-style wheel. My opinion anyway.

I know where you are coming from, but to me the larger thin wood wheels with chrome spokes is more of the 60's look.

The dark wood and black trim.......that got me thinking.

The 81 and 87 are getting that wheel, the "vintage" look of my 80 has my thought patterns going in different directions......
I'm still puzzled that I own a 928 with pin-stripes.

Wood steering wheels are "OK" for the General Lee, but not a 928.

Have one, rocked it for a while. Found that with the high exposure to the sun front the shallow window angle, it got quite hot.... just moved it to a different car.

It's a momo, but close enough...
