Yes what a lot of good fun, thanks for the vicarious adventure.
I was reminded of the time I lost the alternator belt outside of Jordan Valley, OR, which you can see on a map is one of the most isolated towns in the lower 48, and *tiny*. It is 75 miles to the nearest town.
By the way, rule of thumb I learned for power at altitude is you lose 3% power for each 1000 ft. elevation. And yes compounding that percentage becomes important at 7,000 ft!
