Default almost a Car-B-Que

So today was oil change time. I was racking the car and while I did I smelled the familiar smell of raw gasoline. Id smelled this before recently but chalked it up to the warm weather and the emissions system purging. I turned on my light on my phone and looked up at the car to see a line of gas running down the block between the headers and the oil pan on the passenger side. Now Id recently replaced all the rubber hoses and had checked them so I wasn't worried id missed that. After my oil was drained I lowered the car and pulled the air filter housing to have a good look at the fuel line that attaches under the fuel cooler. Sure enough the compression fitting on the cooler was ever so slightly less torqued and when cold it was letting a drip or two of gas out. As soon as the car heated up the fitting would tighten up and gas would not flow. Lucky--- YES. Directly under the bell housing is the catalyst converter. If any of this gas had ever reached that it would have been weenies and beans time. Thank goodness for regular oil change time.

Damn. Good catch. Did it come loose on it's own, or had you been working in that area prior to finding it?

As careful as I could be I did replace that line previously. You can guess how surprised I was when it was loose. I guess the word to the wise is if you smell gas don't ignore it!

Yes, the smell of raw gas is not something to be ignored...for sure.

Glad you caught this issue before it became a mess.

Brian.

Turned out I had a loose hose at the regulator on the passenger side. The fuel injection hose clamp was slightly loose enough to leak when cold and as soon as the pressure came up it sealed. Right now. Now more gas leaks
