Default New Blower Motor Doesn't Fit in Housing

Ordered Roger's replacement motor along with Greg B's wiring kit and when attempting to drop in the new motor it doesn't appear to fit in the housing. Am I missing something obvious?

yup, do a search. some of the early cases have to to modified. basically you have to cut out spots in the old case and then box them in.

So I'm guessing a PO dropped a used blower in there at some point as I thought the post 81 blowers all fit ok.

Kevin - most 84 plus cars have the right top for the uprated blower motor. You need to get your Dremel out or we need to find you a later case.

So I got the blower housing cut and plastic welded and then installed Greg's wiring harness but the blower motor appears to be DOA. Checked at terminals and getting 12v with wiring harness in place, I then applied 12v directly to the motor and still no go. Swapped old motor back in with new harness and it spins just fine. Anything else I can try before just swapping it out?

I don't see anything obviously hanging, it's actually acting like it's not seeing ground at all which is a very curious failure mode. Anyway, Roger's got a replacement on the way so hopefully I'll be good to go in a day or two.

Replacement blower arrived yesterday, got it installed and it works perfectly. Getting the hood aligned correctly was not much fun, but with the wife's help we were finally able to get everything buttoned back up.
