Price estimate on 5 speed euro 86S
Around 55k mls, grey with black leather interior. Has all books etc. Bone stock and nice looking.
Not a bad model - analog with the powerfull 4.7 310HP engine.
My own guess would be around 20-30k USD?
No pics at the time.

Willhoit has an 85 US model at 30k. Guess a euro 86 with a little more mls would cost about the same.....

That is a very desirable euro, but nobody can come close to giving you a range without pics and history. Even then, you have to see the car in person to be sure.
The 85 US that you set as a benchmark damn well better be perfect to command that price.
Pics and more information are essential.

You'll know the market after you sell it. The car you're comparing to has 1/2 the miles, looks great and is being sold by a know retailer of fine 928s. As above, history and condition are critical to moving into the collector-quality zone. Assuming "very good" here are my takes some numbers: ask for $15k and take $10k.

Much depends on where you and the car are located but 15K is probably all the money.....in the U S right now. The tide has turned some very nice cars are bringing more than they did a year or two ago and ASKING prices are even higher But "collector" cars in general are up 40-50% in the last couple years with some really silly jumps in certain models (aircooled 911s).

Late to this thread.. Very nice purchase! Low miles 5-spd '86 16V are unusual. I've seen a few higher miles ones, but very few under 100k kms, and not for a few years, in which time European values have jumped a lot.
The 86 is the ultimate 16V 928.. S4 suspension/brakes from factory, and the 310hp 10.4:1 engine, plus the 85-onwards transaxle, all wrapped up in the early body with S spoilers.
As a guide to value, in my opinion its worth more than an 87/88 5-speed S4 in similar miles/condition/colours.
If you were to sell it, IMO the "right buyer" would be a Porsche collector who already has a 95 GTS and a 77/78 early 928 in their collection. A manual 86 would fill that gap perfectly, in both driving experience, and in model evolution. For that kind of buyer, currently I'd expect it to be worth 40k Euros (and to climb - good condition 928's are selling quickly for asking price currently, which means supply will start to dry up and prices will bubble for a time).
Looking forward to pics (and a VIN )

I'm curious to see your new car and hear what you paid for it. I've got an 85 Euro S that I'll be selling and I'd like to know what they are bringing.

Hilton, thanks. I agree with your evaluation of the 86 4.7 in the 928 lineup. Thats why I wanted it.
Fabio, thanks for the cheer up - i am home sick in my bed
I wonder if the 4.7 86 really has more power than the S4.
Unofficial quotes on the 86 have it producing appx 330 vs. Official numbers on the S4 of 320.
Cheers,
Christian

It is "worth" exactly what you PAID for it....by definition it is what the prior owner was willing to sell it for. There really is no market value no "average price" for rare unique and 30 year old cars. Each is an individual given all the things which happen to cars over 30 years many of which are bad.
Enjoy your car great model in many ways now get out and DRIVE it

If the paint and interior are good, the a 5 speed 86.5 "S2" would be about 15k GBP in the UK.
A year ago it would have been half that. Prices continue to rise by the week at moment, I think the
bubble will burst later this year...
