Battery - '89 plus cars
I stumbled across something today that might be of interest to those with a battery that seems to be 'leaking' electrons, thus losing enough voltage/amerage to start the car, or sometimes even having the battery 'die', because it goes completely flat if being parked for a couple of weeks or more.
I know nothing about this product other than the advertisement. I'm sure Alan or some other electronics guru will help us determine whether it is an appropriate 'accessory' for our cars that are not driven frequently.
Here's the link: http://www.dyersonline.com/withco-ba...ct-switch.html
Looking forward to any comments. IF it works, it would be great if you have to leave your car at the airport or someplace and leave on an extended trip (and forget to disconnect your battery when you walk away!!).

Well to me its mainly just one more thing to go wrong, but then my car doesn't run down the battery much.
I already have a key fob to lock & unlock the car, not sure I 'd want another one for this.
It may well work OK for those that feel they need it - but down at 12 V the battery charge is pretty low already.. and a
928 needs a lot of energy to turn over well. It looks a little challenging to mount & connect this up well in a 928.
If you know you are going to be away for a while (or for security) a well hidden battery cut off switch is just as effective IMO.

Sometimes it's kind of tough to find a 110V outlet to plug the maintainer into at an airport etc.!
I've used a maintainer for 9 years, ever since I got an '89+ car. But, I don't leave it unattended anyplace other than my garage for over 8-10 hours.

A battery switch is the way to go then - protects the battery and is also a theft protection measure (for the vehicle itself - not contents of course). It has other convenience & safety value too e.g. for car shows (with hood, hatch & doors open), cleaning the interior & maintenance work on the car, while charging the battery and of course a quick way to turn off the battery in an emergency (depending on where you mount it).
