Is there a rise in interest in the 928?

Yes there are people looking to buy 928's. But around here they all seem to want a perfect car for nothing. I have replied to at least 3 locals looking for a 5spd 928, but all want to pay dirt.
Interest is there, but I think we need a couple more years for the Junkers to get crushed. Still way to many cheap and neglected 928's for sale, at least arround here.
But the market in Ontario is crap, I'm sure we will see prices rise first in warmer climates like the southern US.

"I found a $1500 928 and I'm going to restore it!" Then takes interior out because its ratty and takes top half of engine out.
Then finds that parts aren't available or are too expensive with the wife just becoming pregnant and so sells it.. and tries to sell it for $800 after a couple years.
Problem is guy sees a nice car at C+C and wants to buy one. Then he sees the above car in craigslist and ebay, and deduces that he shouldn't have to spend more than $5000 for a nice example. Or worse, the guy that bought the 80' and redid the interior and worked it up until it ran and drives with kicker speakers in the door. And now thinks its worth $15,000 (see ebay for asking prices).
Just let them die and serve the living. Its the only way prices will rise. IMHO there are a lot of nice 928 examples out there that are in barns or garages that people have just stopped driving because of maintenance costs or interest. These will come to market like the nice 79' last week.

I have always loved the 928 from afar and always said "one day".
I sold my 993 going into a divorce with the idea of buying another 993 at the other end. I am Not going to pay the price it would take to replace my car so I am buying a few cars on my bucket list. The 928 is one of them. My point is there are guys like me that are now buying 928s because of the bargain they are when compared to ANY air cooled 911 in this market.

Even though i'm not serious about selling,
I find myself wondering if anyone would be interested in buying my car.
Sometimes i think about listing it on fleabay to see if there is any real interest for a 928 build like this out there. In the 911 world there is for sure.
I could build it to pass SCCA, PCA, HSR or any other club rules.

I would probably not sell mine for less than the agreed upon value of the vehicle from my classic car insurer. My 88 right now is insured for $26K, so that would be the minimum I would take for it. Why sell it for less than what it's worth totaled?

If that '85s automatic sold any where near that $39k ask it exceeded Hagerty's valuation by a significant amount.
They have a #1 at $32,200 with a -20% for auto...
At $39k ask for an auto trans car, that puts a #1 manual trans car at $46,800.
Only the beginning?

I just had mine up for $42k (took it off the market)...which now looks like a steal!
