Btw that ruler shows metric scale; it's quite small

Moving forward, I'm really wondering about your input, as you know the 1:1 better than I am afraid I ever will.

Have attached the rear frame to the chassis now, and started looking at how the suspension will fit.

Initial fitting seems to suggest that the proportions are pretty decent.
There is a ton of work to do, but it's great fun to try and replicate the real car.

Been working on the transmission tunnell (come further than the picture shows) and the spare tire compartment/battery box.

It is a challenge to find good reference pics, but I feel it's not too far off base.
These details won't show too well in the end, but it's is a good experience if I manage to replicate to a satisfactory level.

This makes me wonder if anyone has ever taken a 928 body fully apart, removing all welds etc.?

Very impressive. I assume that you are taking a kit and "superdetailing" it?
Is it the Italieri one? That's the only one I know of in 1:24.

I did the 1:20 Tamiya when I got mine, nowhere near the level of alteration you did (the biggest thing I did was put in front and rear sunvisors).

Please continue to show us your progress.

Nice work.

I got this for Christmas. Pretty cool to have the clone of your car, just in 1:18.

The kit is from Testors and can be done as both the original model or 928S.
It's also possible to just display the drivetrain, which is the reason I was disappointed when I found that the full car with body was mounted without shocks, only half the gearbox, etc.

After learning this I decided to chop parts off the chassis and scratchbuild missing details, and my abition level increrased
We'll see if my skill level can even come close to what I picture as the final outcome...

Appreciate all your comments! I will definitely keep this post updated.

Does anyone know the dimensions of the battery (and for what model)?
And do you have the dimensions and some detail pictures of the shape of the battery tray?
I've seen it from behind, but little details from the front.

Looking at the kit piece, the battery seems a bit large, and was intendeed to mount directly to the gear box.
I understand this is from early models (1977) and the integrated box came later.
Does anyone have details around this?

After a few concepts developed, this seems to be how my battery box turned out.
