Default Steel cam gears

Does anyone have a good used set of 16V steel cam gears 928 105 545 03 that they would be willing to sell?

I am changing a water pump and my alloy cam gears are pretty worn.

If these are unobtainable, does anyone have an alloy set 928 105 545 04 that are in good shape or have been re anodized?

Please PM with price.

Thanks
Marty Bohn

Mark

I just called this afternoon and was told there were none available.

I will take two if you have them. Please let me know.

Thanks
Marty

Well I just checked stock myself and Tom was right. I guess we sold out already.
Sorry for the false alarm but maybe I can find a core motor that has some. I'll PM you if I find some

Marty, If you end up with a good pair of used alloy gears I would recommend getting them coated with DFL or something similar. Many hear have had good results. I just finished my t-belt job - had to get new cam gears but was able to find good used crank and oil pump gear from 928INTL (mine were toast) and had them coated by Finishline Coatings. Pretty affordable and will protect them for a long time to come. Good luck. T-belt job parts add up quickly when you start doing water pump and gears.

Marty this lady has a ton of parts. I went by there several months ago and bought a few things. She did have several cam gears as well. Might be worth the trip since she in in Kingwood.

Ok I found a set of steel cam gears super cheap not 10 miles from house. Go figure after no one from here to Cali had any lying around.

Anyway, the teeth are in fine shape with zero wear, but there is some corrosion.

Should I take them to be anodized before installing?

Thanks!

If I am not mistaken those are steel and they run as is...no coatings used on them. Aluminum is used in later gear sets and require anodized hardening

Just wondering that if you anodize them after cleaning them off, the corrosion shouldn't return.

Or should I just clean them off and be done with it?

You can't anodise steel, only aluminium. Clean off the rust and paint the rusty areas with rust converter or zinc rich primer. Do not paint the teeth, or the bore that the camshaft goes through or the areas of the central boss that the the nut and washer sit on or the side that rests against the camshaft.
