I agree the dash needs a major overhaul. But I think if you do the dash in red then you need to do the console too (and the glove box door). The LH cover is right, but your missing the package tray. That's why the LH is visible. I would keep the steering wheel and shifter, but I would sand the chrome on the wheel to make it look like SS or paint the spokes. I hate chrome wheels on ANY Porsche, but if the price was right; so be it.

I guess I was confused about the lipstick red and the red bra and panties on that one waitress.

OK sports fans, another update. I went to Houston Friday and came back today. I was going to fly, but decided to take the 928 and give it a good long checkout.

The car ran fine, no issues at all. There was some seat adjustment issues but I figured out that when I was vacuuming I dropped a coin into the seat track and once I got that out everything was kosher.

I got 22.9MPG driving fairly fast, between 70 and 80 most of the way, a bit slower on the return leg. The seats are amazingly comfy and I could do another couple hours if needed but I'm back home and happy with the car. I'll take the intake and cam covers off for refreshing and some new vac lines this fall and that should be it.

Love the night high beams too. They really light up the place.

Anyone got a pax side parcel tray? Now I know what those two metal braces are for.

As for the dash, I'm definitely going with lipstick red. If it's gonna be bling, might as well bling the shyte out of it. I got a good deal on the chrome zoomies, so they are going on now cause I HATE these wheels. maybe Sean will be a pal and take off my center console as well, or loan me one that I can cover in red. I doubt I'll do the pod in red due to the glare, but the dash and center console are gonna get the treatment.

There's some door panels on ebay that are red and I've been toying with making an offer on them. Wonder if my door covers are worth much to anyone local.

Nice colours.

Odd that it has blingy aftermarket shifter and steering wheel, yet still retains a stock Blaupnkt Reno stereo?

Well good for you I guess. I just got the estimate to do the dash and it was $850 and I have to strip off the old stuff. Makes me want to buy a upholstery machine and get to work. grrrrrrrrrr

Contact Rob Budd and see what his price would be.

Apparently you weren't specific enough about which Kia mini-SUV the dash is coming from.

There has to be a piece of red **** carpet available somewhere.

I've got that passenger shelf out of an '84. Dark brown color. It isn't mint, but it might suit your purpose. Very reasonable. Maybe free, or a six pack.

Naw, it's a spambot. Copies a post from an existing thread to establish and verify privs. Mods are pretty good about eliminating them on this site.

sweeeet... a dually 928.....

the dash is not that hard to do. getting it in and out is the booger.

I got an alcantara dash from rob... super nice dash cover. I installed it myself.. I have a few small wrinkles, not a prefect job, but not a shoddy one either.

the grinding and filling of the cracks was really easy, so I would think it may be worth getting the cover from rob or paul, prepping the dash and then having a shop put it on.

the shipping there and back was half the cost of the cover.

Well the question about when to do the timing belt and water pump has been definitively answered. I was on my way to 3rd coast when the water pump seized and the belt tension light came on. It got pretty hot but I stopped in time, and coasted to a safe parking spot. Towed it home safe and now have half of the front of the engine off. I'll be back on the road with a new TB and WP in a few days.
