To bad you guys in the US never have the chance to engage the warp drive and take them up to Mach crit . Above 120 MPH these cars are in a world of their own. That's why the cruise works upt to 240 km/h or 150 MPH, how cool of a design is that ?

Yes, in Germany it competes with airplaines on the Autobahn....

Here we are on our final morning. We ran it a bit later than usual on Saturday night - stopped at about 10 pm. So our goal was to leave at about 8:30 Sunday morning morning.

Only two stops on Sunday. One health break only and one for gas. All business. So not a lot of pics. The Turnpike South from Orlando had a traffic incident around maybe Lake Worth so we crossed over to the I-95 for a bit. Cost us an extra 15 minutes in the route, but save us probably 30-45 mins of traffic. My GPS has traffic alerts and Mathew was checking Google navigation as well for traffic.

Here we are just pulled in at home in the driveway.

Here is the final Odometer reading after the trip.

The car performed flawlessly. We had the scratch incident at the Hotel in Fargo, and the fog / driving light lens incident on Sunday. Other than that, just fuel. Avg fuel economy 19.1 mpg. Total distance covered 2267 miles.

The on center feeling on this car is uncanny. I had forgotten. I have an Audi A5 and it requires a lot of minute steering correction at speed. Not this girl. If there were any crosswinds, they were completely undetectable. It is so stable and comfortable for a long journey. Makes sense since this was part of the design intent of the vehicle.

I will say that I just about fell off my chair last night when I priced out the replacement lens. I guess parts are becoming more scarce. Well, I guess when you consider the length of our trip, that's not too bad.

Thanks for being on standby if help was needed. Thankfully it wasn't - this time!

Awesome trip and so glad it was essentially drama-less. Remarkable for such an aged car. You've got a good one. I believe Roger is now selling replacement lenses that don't break the bank.

Glad you and your son had a great trip.
These cars are absolutely fabulous for this kind of run. It's what they were made for.

You didn't follow the route you posted back on page 2.
From the pics and commentary, you went 29 south to KC, across 70 to IL, then down through Nashville, Chattanooga & Atlanta. Still a pretty good route.

And, as was said, Roger had had polycarbonate versions of the lenses made. He may or may not have any left. But they were a lot more reasonably priced.

I received a lot of advice from folks in Winnipeg who make the trip to Florida. I followed their advice and went through the KC, St Louis option. Nothing went wrong, no significant traffic issues so I think it was a good choice. If we had more time, I certainly would have made more 'tourist' style stops. Unfortunately, we were on a time budget to get home Sunday. And I wanted to leave a bit of time for unplanned stops.

We really enjoyed the trip. Thanks again.
