One of those blew off the oil line to the front oil cooler in my driveway on a cold Indiana morning

Here in Australia ALL the performance models had it standard..70s GT falcons..and the GTHO had Detroit locker ( note HO = handling option...not drag pack..). The reason for the Detroit Locker on the GTHO was to heat the tyres at Bathurst. The inside wheel would spin, heating the tyre, this would also make the big Falcon 351 oversteer powering through the corners.

but even 1980s esp falcons..SS and wilknshaw commodores...ect...all LSD, as far as I can remember even std v8 came with standard LSD in Borg /BTR diffs.. And they worked no problems.

It was not something referred to as a option.. To see it optional on a 1980s 928 at the price point of these vehicles im a little stunned.

It only became standard in S4 928 onwards right?

The 1990 > got the computer controlled variable "limited slip". up to 1989 it was optional to have a mechanical one and it was very limited in the ability to transfer torque after 1983. For most 911s it was optional in early years but then PSM made it not available at all.
