hi Glenn......did you get the TT out and rebuild with Constantines bearings?

I just received Greg's new drive shaft and his new stub shaft to marry up to the super bearings.

Only 3 months until driving weather

Glenn, any resolution on this issue/thread? I’m working through a very similar issue at the moment.

Josh,

Have you checked the location of the front bearing in your torque tube to see if it migrated rearward? We have found in primarily the 5-speed torque tubes it is a common failure.

Anything more than approximately 15 inches back (should be around 10-12 inches from the front) and you start getting vibration issues.

Another failure we are finding is with run out problems which are exacerbated by the front necked down portion of the OE drive shaft. We've now changed the design of the our 5-speed drive shafts to correct these issues.

Good luck with the hunt!

Thanks for the reply Constantine. I just found this thread this morning, lots of good info. I’ll check this tonight. I just did the rebuild on the tube with your bearings and I think I set the depth to 11”, but it could have moved. I’m also thinking maybe my drive shaft could be warped. I haven’t looked into this yet because my vibration was there even with the clutch depressed, which I figured elimated the tube and shaft, but maybe there is more going on there. If I don’t find anything with the bearing or the shaft I’m also going to take the clutch out and install just the intermediate and run the engine. I think that way I’ll be able to isolate it completely to the driveline or engine.

Hi Josh,

Doubt the Super Bearing moved backward then, they don't move once installed.

Good luck with the search.

Default a potentially useful list

Does anyone have a list of potential vibration sources, ordered by probability of occurrence? That is, such as
- bad motor mounts
- bad transmission mounts
- bad crankshaft vibration damper
- imbalanced clutch
- migrated torque tube drive shaft bearings
- torque tube drive shaft bearings not supporting the drive shaft
- collapsed rubber springs torque tube vibration damper
- bent drive shaft

Etc?
