Wow!
You're one of the most patient and persevering 928 owner I've seen.
Those long term full restore projects always amaze me.
You - and few others here - have all my admiration for going through projects like this.
And you almost did it twice!
Beautiful job and congratulations.
It takes a lot of courage to do what you did.

During the trials and tribulations of this project (much of which has been redacted) Phil still had time to reach out and help fellow 928 owners, such as myself. He saved a week long touring holiday with my gf by offering a replacement part and help fitting it. Without his generosity my gf's 30th birthday would have been ruined. Instead we were able to enjoy the Scottish Highlands on roads like this

My SE is one of Phil's cars and I can fully attest to his attention to detail.
I have copious notes of everything he touched on the car. All I did was buy it - ship it - take it to a car show and it won "Best in Show".
Way to go Phil!!!

Great job Phil, glad to hear that the car is now on the road, I know it's been a very, very long process.

Phil -
How were the rear quarters and rear bumper cover melded together seamlessly? I'm assuming the GTS rear fenders are OEM steel. So is the aftermarket bumper cover also made of steel, and welded to the quarters?

thanks for the kind words gents
glad to help out Paul and it looks like you and your gf had a great time.
hope to catch up with you at a meet in the future
the rear bumper and outer sills are fibreglass but were a very good fit to the OEM quarters so they bolted/bonded the rear bumper to the quarters and filled the gaps and i used a lot of unseen braces to keep the lower section from flexing with air pressure
the sills attatched the same but i also had to use expanding foam to fill the lower gap to stop the force of air flexing them.
i still cannot see exactly where they joined it 7 years later.
part of the many braces can just be seen below, picture taken from behind the fuel tank-the exhaust outlet is the one made for the other side
cheers
Phil
90GT orange -finished
88SE silver -next years project-it will never be as good as Rogers but its still an SE

Let's just say that for now Phil is being very diplomatic... It seems he will get a favourable resolution. Once that happens, all could be revealed.

After reading the first part about the "rot," I was thinking "sure am glad I live in California."
Then came the fire...!
Hope you get to enjoy your 928 for a good long time. You've earned it.
